Renee's expression of joy turned cold in an instant. She looked at me, and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense in our mutual silence.

I finally broke the silence in my embarrassment, "Why didn't you call me when you got back?"

Renee ignored my confusion and looked at Le Yao and asked me, 'What's wrong with her?"

I then remembered to put Violetta down on my back and forced a smile as I said to Renee, 'She's not feeling well!"

"Oh, then come in."

As soon as Violetta and I entered the house, Renee left with her handbag, a sudden move that made me a little dazed.

Violetta nudged me and said, "Hurry up and go after her, you won't be able to catch her once she gets into the car."

"Oh...oh!"

I came back to my senses and immediately spread my legs and ran outside.

By the time I reached the bottom of the stairs, Renee had just arrived, but she already had the car keys in her hand.

Fortunately, I remained calm in the face of danger and, without dragging her, I snatched the car keys from her hand and held them tightly so that she could not get away.

Sure enough, she stopped and looked at me, her expression a little cold and calm.

I touched the tip of my nose and forced a smile, saying, "You should have called me when you got back!"

"If you don't even reply to WeChat, why bother calling?"

I then remembered Renee's WeChat message that I had temporarily ignored. Thinking about it now, it's no wonder she asked me, "Have you been lonely these past few days?"

If I had told her I was lonely, she would have been pleasantly surprised. But I was being ridiculous, and I had changed the original script.

"Give me back my car keys," Renee's words were still cold.

I ignored her and immediately shoved the car keys into the innermost pocket of my shirt, then zipped it up tightly so that she could not get the keys without ripping my shirt.

At this point, I wished in my heart that she would yell at me, "stupid rascal," but she just frowned and turned to walk away from the community.

The rain wasn't heavy at this point, but it was enough to wet us. I followed Renee the whole way, struggling with her several times, and finally dragged her under the eaves of a shop, pressing her hands against the wall and blocking her in my arms.

"Lucas, what do you really want?"

"I just don't want you to go."

"It's my freedom to go wherever I want. If you don't move, I'll call the police."

"Is this petty matter really worth calling the police? Even if the police come, they'll just think it's a couple having a domestic dispute..."

Renee interrupted before I could finish: "I don't want to hear your nonsense..."

I interrupted her: "You want to call the police, go ahead... I'll help you."

I took out my phone from my pocket, pressed 110, and handed it to Renee, saying, "Press it. If you just press the dial button, the police will be here in no time to arrest me like a piece of rotten cabbage!"

But Renee really took the phone from me and pressed the dial button...

I snatched the phone back from Renee's hand, hung up, and angrily said, "What did I do to you that you really sent me to the police station!"
