I didn't take CC's offer to heart, still immersed in the image I just had with Brittany, and I didn't come back to my senses until CC disgruntledly slapped me.

"Lucas, are you listening to me?"

I lit another cigarette out of habit before saying, "I was listening when you said Renee was coming over later."

CC followed up with another question, saying, "What about the sentence after that?"

"Is there more behind it?"

Violetta said in CC's place, "CC just said that Renee is the CEO of Jumeirah Mall and also has a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania's business school, so she must be very insightful when it comes to business marketing, and that we can consult her later if she has any good advice."

I nodded to signal that I knew.

CC finally asked suspiciously, "Lucas, what's wrong with you, you just went out for a while and came back like a changed person ...... soul!"

I ignored CC's doubt, heavily inhaled a mouthful of smoke, and then took out Brittany's piece of bank card from my pocket and handed it to Violetta and said, "There is 500,000 yuan in this card, you take it first, and I'll think of a way to get the rest."

The crowd looked at me in surprise, and finally Violetta asked, "Who loaned you this?"

I was reluctant to tell the crowd that this was lent to me by Brittany, and was silent for a long time before I said to Violetta, "It's a friend, as for who it is don't ask, the money is clean."

Violetta finally nodded and took the bank card from my hand and said, "Lucas, reassure your friend that I will pay him back this money."

I once again urged Violetta, saying, "It's best if you have the ability to pay it back, but if you don't, don't ever force yourself, I'll figure it out together with you."

As we were talking, Renee walked in from the entrance with her handbag, and since there were very few people, she spotted us sitting in the corner at the first opportunity, and then walked towards us.

CC made way for Renee to sit, Renee placed her bag on the table and looked around, the icy atmosphere of the bar brought a hint of sympathy to her face as well.

Not wanting to make the atmosphere too dull, I smiled and said to Renee, "What would you like to drink, my treat."

"Beer."

Renee's answer surprised me and then asked, "I thought you didn't like drinking?"

Renee looked toward the performance stage and said, "I want to go up there and sing later."

"Is there a necessary connection between drinking beer and singing?" Robben asked, also surprised.

I laughed and answered in place of Robben, saying, "She's following CC's example, it's true that those who are close to the ink are black!"

CC laughed on Robben's shoulder and said, "Honey, do you want me to light up another cigarette for you later? I still smoke!"

Robben just laughed at CC's flirting while Violetta greeted the waiter and ordered a beer for Renee.

Renee, in the crowd's attention, picked up and took a sip, but frowned, looking like she really didn't have the habit of drinking, she put down the cup in her hand and asked Violetta, "Is the bar's business always like this?"

"Except for the opening days when the business was better, the later ones are all like this now." Violetta replied.

Concerned, CC asked Renee, "Honey, is there any way we can save Violetta's bar?"
