Victor paced the waiting room, as he waited to hear news about Nikki's condition."Please, let her be ok. Please, let Nikki get through this, she has to. Our kids need her...I need her." Victor becoming fed up with the waiting, even though it had only been a little over ten minutes, walked to the receptionist for the second time. "Any news on my wife yet," Victor asked her. "I'm afraid not Mr. Newman. "Mr. Newman," the receptionist called as Victor turned around, "we should have news soon in the meantime you should try to relax, you're not doing your wife any good by worrying." "Thank you doc, Victor said letting her know that relaxing was the last thing on his mind at that point. He turned and put his hands in his pockets, Victor felt his phone, but didn't want to call Nicholas or Victoria until he had answers.

Just as Victor was walking away from the desk, a doctor called from behind him, "Mr. Newman." Victor turned around, and hurriedly walked the rest of the way to the doctor. "How is she?" Victor asked. "You're wife has been rushed into emergency surgery," the doctor started, "the bullet severely damaged her left kidney, and became lodged in the abdominal aorta, which is a major blood vessel." "Is it serious, doc?" Victor asked becoming more worried by the second, and in a bit of denial. "The abdominal aorta, in this case is highly repairable, but the damage done to the kidney is very significant," the doctor replied. "What if the damage is too severe?" Victor asked. "I think it's best if we don't think that far into the future, sir, we will have to wait and see what the surgeons are able to repair during the surgery." "I can bring in any specialist that may be needed, nationally or internationally," Victor said, "money is no problem."

"That won't be necessary Mr. Newman, our doctor's are going to do everything they can to save your wife." "They'd better, if they know what's good for them," Victor said becoming more than frustrated at this point. "If you don't have anymore questions, Mr. Newman, I have to get back to work," the doctor told him. "Just make sure they take care of her," Victor said as he once again made eye contact with the doctor. "Of course, Mr. Newman," the doctor replied and turned to walk away.

"Jack Abbott will pay dearly for this," Victor thought to himself. Victor looked up at the ceiling, let out a deep breath, and closed his eyes, dreading the call he was going to have to make to his two oldest children.
