The last soul that needed saving was Asriel's. It was with him that Frisk learned the tragic story of his death and rebirth. Of course, Avery had lived through it, but that didn't mean that she still didn't learn something new about his tragedy, like Alphys' involvement. Not that she'd known about the prince's dust, being on that flower. It was all something she would have to keep to herself for Asriel's sake, whether he was the soulless Flowey or not. After his tale and after being with his parents one final time, Asriel took that godlike form again and shattered the barrier, allowing the monsters freedom. Avery looked at her brothers and father, all sporting different expressions. One was nervous. Sans knew what happened next. He didn't want it to happen, but he knew it would. Papyrus was excited, obvious to the oncoming threat of reset. Their father was in awe, approaching the sunset with a slackjawed expression. Avery trailed after him, having never actually been able to see it herself after all these resets. She would allow herself this one moment to appreciate seeing the sun again before it happened. The others followed after, surrounding them to appreciate it as well before everything went black.

It was one of those days where Sans decided he didn't wanna shortcut to Hotland today. Anxiety was a factor to this. He'd been working on a way to free him for so long, now that it was done (thanks to Alphys and co), it was too surreal. He was going to be free today, and it made Sans nervous. He blinked and took in his surroundings. The kid had reset, and he was back here again. Sans looked over at Avery. "Tra la la, hello again, Sans." She seemed to smile at him from the unknown dark of their hood. "yeah... hi, avery. so... this is the new reset point, huh?" Avery nodded subtly. "So it would seem, tra la. I can already feel him, though. He's already free." Sans quirked a bone brow. "... great... do you know if he'll... remember...?" Sans was nervous. "The possibility is there. We are connected, after all, Sans. Do you want me to come with you to support you?" Sans completely froze, not expecting to hear her ask that. After a minute, Sans gave her a nod. "please..."

Gaster was confused when he woke up. Where was he? Weren't they just on the surface? "welcome back, pops..." Gaster flinched away before turning to the sound of his oldest son. There he was, sitting in a chair beside his bed. The cloaked Avery standing beside him. Gaster blinked a few times. It couldn't be... had he finally lost his mind? "... Sans..? What is going on." The skeleton frowned uncertainly, but Avery put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "it's called a reset. the kid rewound time back to when they fell using their very soul." Gaster looked absolutely flabbergastered and overwhelmed. So much so he actually started to tear up. "That's... that's impossible..." His voice cracked with emotion. "We were finally free!" Sans nodded, staying quiet so Gaster could have a moment to process. He kept it fairly short, though, a few minutes for Gaster, at least. "i know you're overwhelmed and upset, but this is the way things have been... for a very, very long time... i was kinda hoping you wouldn't remember, just like everyone else..." Gaster looked up at Sans in confusion, but he seemed to be done. "That last timeline never happened. Therefore, everyone's memories are erased."
