Theo's POV

Two and a half weeks. That's how long it's been since Dom showed his true self. It's also the time I've spent being a perfect best friend to him, the nicest version of myself that I've ever had to fake. All for one singular goal, to kill him without being suspected.

I give Dom a big bear hug. "I'm going to fucking miss you, bro." I say, fighting the resentment in my heart.

"Ah, me too, man. I hope you have a safe flight." He replies as he pulls away.

His face makes me want to punch him, but I force myself to nod in appreciation.

I turn to the rest of his family, who are waiting by the door to see me leave. They think that I'm going to fly out of the country to see my friends for a week. "I'll see you all soon." I call out with a wave.

They wave and say their final goodbyes as I step into the taxi.

The last person I look at is Lorena as I drive away. This time, I'm glad her parents don't let her sleep out, otherwise, she'd be ruining my plan.

I get dropped off at the airport and head straight to the bathrooms. I meet a guy that I hired for my plan, who I'm going to call James. He looks somewhat similar to me, making it easy to swap identities, meaning I can stay here while he travels out of the country. We swap our coats, and I take his cap. Then he gives me an envelope with the documents I need for my new identity as James, along with a burner phone and a car key to something fast that doesn't attract attention.

I then make my way to the hotel near the airport. It's perfect because it's close and people will be in and out any time of the day. I check in under my new name and wait in my hotel room until Wednesday night comes.

Finally, it's Wednesday, just about to hit midnight. The weather didn't let me down by raining today. I've spent an hour driving around, scanning for Dom's car, hoping he'll keep up with our tradition of racing on a Wednesday night.

I phone him, and he answers right away. "Yo, my fucking bro!" I force out the high energy.

"Yes, Theo! What's up, man?" He returns the same energy.

"Tell me you're fucking racing!"

"I'm fucking racing!" His laughter comes through the line.

"That's what I'm talking about!"

"You better be racing too!"

"Oh, you bet I just had to!"

Just then, his car flies past me. A smile forms across my face as I start to speed to catch up to him.

"Good, man. How's life? What have you been up to?" He asks, casual and carefree.

"Oh, you know how it is. It's alright. I can't wait to get back, though."

"You're not feeling it?" Dom chuckles, oblivious to the rage growing inside me.

I force a laugh back. "Honestly? It's shit here. The vibes off, man."

I drive close behind him, inches away from hitting his rear bumper.

"Ah, don't worry about it. You'll be... uh, you'll be back-" He sounds distracted.

"You good, bro?" I ask casually.

"Yeah, there's this car riding up my ass. I think he wants to race."

"Who is it?" I pick up the burner phone and call Dom.

"I don't know. Hang on, I'm getting a call. I'll ring you back."
