Together Forever- A Nick and Charlie Story

Weekend in the Nelson house

Charlie's pov:
After what has felt like the longest week ever, it is finally Saturday. Saturdays are the busiest days of the week in the Nelson house. Hazel has her dance class from 9am to 9:30, Colton's rugby game starts at 10:30 and Nicks starts at 11:30 then Hazel and Summer have swimming lessons in the afternoon at 2pm while Colton usually goes surfing.

Right now I am trying to get Hazel ready for dance but she is not happy today. She is very tired as Nick thought it was a good idea to let her stay up late as they haven't had enough "Papa and Hazel time" lately. Which don't get me wrong is very sweet of him but now I am struggling to get her ready. Once i finally manage to get Hazel out of bed, I get her dressed in her cute little pink leotard, tights and her ballet skirt. Now it's time to do her hair... It is always a struggle trying to do Hazels hair. She absolutely hates it. Hazel has brown curly hair so it gets tangled very easily. I managed to put her hair in a ballet bun with only a few tears and screams from Hazel. Hazel and I now walk downstairs to get her some breakfast.

As we walk down the stairs to the kitchen, we see Nick in the living room feeding Summer. I get Hazel set up with some cereal and she starts eating it. I then walk into the living room to see Nick and Summer. "Morning" I say while sitting down on the couch next to Nick. I lay my head on his shoulder. "Morning love, how's Hazel?" Nick replies. "She's good, she's just very tired from all her Papa and Hazel time last night when she should've been in bed" I sigh. "Whoops, sorry about that honey" Nick chuckles. "It's okay, it's sweet" Hazel runs into the room. "Daddy I'm finished" She yells a little too loud. "Okay baby sit here with Papa and Summer for a bit while I get ready then we can go" I say to Hazel.

Hazel sits down next to Nick, talking to her little sister. I then go upstairs and get ready. Thank goodness Nick already got Summer ready because we are late. Once I'm ready I grab Hazels dance bag from her room, pack her some snacks and fill up her water bottle. I then pack Summers bag as we have a long day today. "Okay so I'll take the girls to dance and then you get Colton ready for rugby and we'll meet you at the rugby fields to watch you both" I say to Nick, confirming our plan. "Yes Char, I've got it" He replies calmly. I strap both of the girls into their car seats and drive to Hazels dance studio.

Nicks pov:
Colton is quite easy to get ready as he is older than Hazel and Summer so he's a lot more independent. Once Colton and I are both ready for rugby we get in my car and drive to the rugby field. Colton then go starts warming up with his team. I then hear a crying baby, when I look over I see both of my daughters and my husband. Summer is crying but I'm just assuming she's hungry so I rush over to help Charlie as his hands are full. I help my family get set up and once we are all comfortable sitting on the picnic blanket we start talking about our day so far.

"How was dance Haze?" I ask

"Good Papa I got to wear a tutu and watch the big girls dance for the concert"

"How's Colton? Is he nervous?" Charlie asks

"I think he's okay, he's the rugby king junior" I chuckle

Colton and I both won our games today. I'm proud of him.

"Good job buddy, I'm so proud of you" I say

"You did so well baby" Charlie adds

"Thanks guys" Colton replies, out of breath and red in the face.

"You did good too honey" Charlie says, hugging me. I'm covered in mud and end up getting some on Charlie's face. I kiss him and purposely wipe more mud on him to which he giggles.

We pack up all our things and carry them all to the car. We then go home and get changed for the next Nelson family Saturday activity. Swimming lessons. This time I'm getting the girls ready. I get Hazel dressed in her pink one piece swimsuit that has daisies on it and tell her to go grab her goggles.

I them get summer dressed in her blue long sleeved swim suit that also has daisies on it. The girls swimming teacher comes to our house and teaches them to swim in our pool. I usually get in too as Summer is too little. While the girls do their lessons, Charlie takes Colton to the beach so he can surf. We live within walking distance to the beach so it's not that far.

Colton has his wetsuit on and his board ready while Charlie is just wearing a t–shirt and shorts. They start walking to the beach. Charlie has his book and chair in his hands. The girls swim teacher finally arrives. We then go out to the pool and their lesson begins.

1 hour later

Charlie and Colton are back from the beach. Colton puts his board away and gets changed while Charlie sits on the back deck and continues reading. The girls have finished their lesson and their teacher leaves I go upstairs to put them both in the bath. Normally Hazel has a tantrum about having a bath but as she is shivering from being in the pool she gladly gets in the warm bath. Once both girls are bathed and dressed in their pyjamas we go downstairs to watch a movie with Charlie and Colton. I then make dinner and we decide to eat it outside for a change. We watch the sunset over the  each from our back deck and we all eat dinner in peace after a long day. Even though Saturdays are our busiest day, It's still my favourite day with my family.
