Coltons Birthday

Charlies pov-
I can't believe it. Todays the day. The day our oldest baby turns 8. I start to tear up at the thought of it. He's grown up so fast. He is the most sweet, loving, respectful and the smartest 8 year old I know.

As I'm laying in bed thinking I hear little footsteps running through the hallway towards Nick and I's room. Our bedroom door slams open and Colton jumps on us screaming "Wake up Dada and Papa, It's my birthday!"

"There's my favourite 8 year old" I say while wrapping Colton up in my arms. 

"Morning birthday boy" Nick says as he wakes up. He then takes Colton into his arms.

We then all have a big group hug with the birthday boy.

"You ready for breakfast and presents?" I ask Colton

"Yayyyy" He replies while running downstairs.

All the noise had woken both of the girls up too as Summer started crying from her crib beside our bed and Hazel walked out of her room rubbing her eyes.

"What going on Papa" She asks Nick

"It's Coltys birthday remember Hazey?" He tells her while picking her up in his arms, ready to bring her downstairs. I grab Summer from her crib and grab all Colton's presents to bring downstairs.

I walk downstairs and Nick is serving up the kids pancakes for breakfast. We have a tradition on birthdays where whoever's birthday it is gets to pick what we eat for every meal on their birthday. Colton had picked pancakes for breakfast, fish and chips at the beach for lunch as he wanted to have his birthday party at the beach and then Mcdonald's for dinner.

I set up all of the presents in the lounge room ready for when everyone's finished breakfast.

"Mhmm good pancakes Papa, can it be Coltys birthday everyday?" Hazel asks

"Haha I wish baby" Nick replies

"I'm all done Dad can we do presents nowwww" Asks Colton impatiently

"I'm done too" Hazel adds

"Okay everyone let's go sit in the living room to watch Colton open presents" I say

I'm sitting on the couch feeding Summer, Nick is sat next to me with Hazel on his lap and Colton is sitting on the floor ready to open his presents. The first present he opens is a new wetsuit as he has nearly grown out of the one he has now.

"Thanks Dad and Papa, I love it" He says excitedly. It's a dark blue and black long sleeved wetsuit. "You can try it out when we go to the beach later buddy" I say.
Colton nods and smiles. He starts to open his next present. He opens some more of his presents, making sure to thank us after each one. He got some lego, remote control cars, and a new rugby ball. His last present is very special so we saved it for last. Colton carefully unwraps his last present before screaming "YES AN XBOX" Nick and I had decided to get Colton and Xbox. It will be kept out here in the living room so we can all use it even though it is mainly Colton's. "THANKS DAD AND PAPA" He screams again while running over to us and giving us a big hug. "You're welcome buddy , Papa and I can teach you how to play mariokart later if you want?" I ask. "Yes please that would be fun" He has the biggest smile on his face.

"When's my birthday Papa" Hazel asks Nick. I think she's feeling a bit left out today, but she does have to learn.

"You're birthday is September the 6th baby, two days after my birthday" Nick replies.

"Is September 6 soon?" She asks again.

"Well today is August the 3rd which is Colton's birthday so that means your birthday is nearly a month away" Nick always explains things so well to Hazel, in a way she understands.
