The Night Walk

Chapter 10

Sam's only been running the whole time; he didn't want to worry his mother about him coming home late, he finally reached his front door and opens it "Ma! I'm home!" he yelled from the door and takes off his shoes as soon as he enters inside. He sees his mother sitting on the couch with a worried face, but as soon as she saw him, her face calms down.

"Where have you been? It's almost dark though..." she asks as she stands up and heading towards him with her hand clutches to her chest "I was so worried you know that" 

Sam sighs "I know, I'm sorry, I just needed to help a classmate to get home from school and I might've gotten lost since I didn't know where his house is" he wipes the sweat on his forehead and smiles apologetically.

His mother sighs but understands the situation, she looks at him again "But why not ask him?" she didn't know what's happening, so she asks such question.

"Oh, about that, he's actually asleep on my back because he's sick so I carried him to his house" he walks over towards the kitchen.

She looks at him with a curious expression "And how did you find his house?" she sits down back on the couch again; she could hear him since the living room and the kitchen is just near one other.

The sink could be heard turning on from the kitchen with the water splashing out of it and falling into the sink "Luckily, his sister found me and happens to see Cameron, so she leads us back to their place" after that, he splashes water into his face and rubs it to clean off the sweat.

"I'm glad that you're making another friend dear, and I will be making some spicy curry later so after you wash up, can you clean the pots?" she looked at the kitchen simply directly to where the sink is as Sam is washing his face.

Sam turns off the sink and heads outside the kitchen "Sure" he walks upstairs where his room is, his mom turn on the TV, but he comes back downstairs "And Ma, I'll be going on a walk again after dinner, okay?" after informing her, he walks back upstairs again.

She chuckles thinking about Sam's habit of walking out at night, but then forgets the reason again on why he does it 'Wait... why does he walk out at night again?'

After dinner, Sam's walking out again, he's again staring at the bright moon and it's a complete full moon which brightens the who neighborhood, he now looks at the stars and sees constellations.

'That one looks like a crown...' he looks at another to his right 'And that looks like a diamond' and another one to his left 'That's a heart shape one'

The street at night feels empty again, it's just a nightly routine of the whole neighborhood to be this quiet, especially that most of the neighbors are old people and some are busy during the night, a wind blows by his direction, tree leaves flutters with the heavy blow and some leaves has been separated from the branch, and one even landed on his hair. He puts on his headphone and plays a French music.

As he was walking, the first part of the song starts to play, he gently keeps a pebble in front of him. So, he decides to sing along with the music he's from his headphones.

"J'ai retrouve le sourire~" he sang as he stares at the dazzling stars.

"Quandj'ai vu le bout du tunnel~" at this part, he felt the leaf on his hair, he picks it off and tosses it to the side.

"Ou nous menera ce jeu male et da la femelle~" the leaf that he tosses slowly while back and forth again and again as it's falling till it reached the ground and landed softly on the grass part of someone's lawn.
