The seasons turned slowly, the world around them shifting with the passage of time. Two more years had passed since that emotional night where Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had reaffirmed their bond. Wei Wuxian, now 19, had matured into a young man, though traces of the childlike mischief that had once defined him still lingered in his eyes. The insecurities that had plagued him were less prominent, but there were still moments when doubt crept in, especially with the constant scrutiny of the elders.
Lan Wangji, as always, remained his steadfast self, but Wei Wuxian could sense subtle changes in him too. Their marriage, though yet to be fully consummated, had grown stronger. Lan Wangji's patience, his gentle understanding, had woven a deeper bond between them. But there was also a growing tension-a tension born from the restrained desires they both felt, from the unspoken needs that had only grown stronger as time passed.

The Softening Barriers

The sun was setting over Cloud Recesses, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson. Wei Wuxian stood at the edge of the cliff overlooking the valley, his long hair fluttering gently in the evening breeze. He felt the cool air on his skin, the warmth of the fading sun, and the quiet presence of Lan Zhan beside him.

"Do you remember the first time we stood here together?" Wei Wuxian asked, a soft smile playing on his lips.

Lan Wangji nodded. "Yes. You tried to fly with your sword and almost fell."
Wei Wuxian laughed, the sound light and free. "I was so young then, so carefree. Everything seemed so simple." He glanced at Lan Wangji, his gaze thoughtful. "A lot has changed since then."

Lan Wangji's eyes softened as he looked at Wei Wuxian. "Yes. But some things remain the same."

Wei Wuxian felt a warmth spread through his chest at those words. Lan Zhan's unwavering support, his constant presence, had been a pillar of strength for him. There was something about the way Lan Zhan looked at him, something that made him feel cherished, even when he doubted himself.
But tonight, there was something different in the air. Wei Wuxian could sense it-a subtle shift, a deepening of the connection between them. He turned to face Lan Zhan fully, his heart beating a little faster.

"Lan Zhan," he said softly, his voice carrying a hint of uncertainty. "Do you... ever think about us? About what we're supposed to be?"

Lan Wangji's gaze was steady,

but there was a flicker of something in his eyes-something that Wei Wuxian couldn't quite place. "Yes," Lan Wangji replied quietly. "I think about it often."

Wei Wuxian took a deep breath, feeling his heart race. "And what do you think? Are you... are you happy with how things are?"

Lan Wangji stepped closer, the warmth of his body radiating through the thin fabric of his robes. He reached out, his fingers brushing against Wei Wuxian's cheek in a tender caress. "Wei Ying, I am happy because I am with you. But if you are asking whether I desire more..." Не paused, his gaze intense. "The answer is yes."
Wei Wuxian felt a shiver run down his spine at the weight of Lan Zhan's words. He had always known, somewhere deep down, that Lan Zhan's patience had its limits. That despite his control, despite his restraint, there was a part of him that wanted more- more closeness, more intimacy.

"I... I want that too," Wei Wuxian admitted, his voice barely a whisper. His heart was pounding in his chest, his hands trembling slightly as he reached out to grasp Lan Zhan's robes. "I want to be close to you, Lan Zhan. But I'm scared."
Lan Wangji's expression softened, his eyes filled with understanding. "There is no need to be afraid, Wei Ying. We will go at your pace. Always."

The Growing Desire

The following days were marked by a new, unspoken agreement between them. They spent more time together, seeking out each other's presence whenever they could. There was a quiet intimacy in the way they interacted now, a shared understanding that they were moving toward something deeper.
Lan Wangji found himself drawn to Wei Wuxian in ways he hadn't allowed himself to acknowledge before. His eyes would linger on the curve of Wei Ying's neck, the way his long hair fell over his shoulders, the soft, open expressions that would cross his face when he was lost in thought. It was becoming harder to keep his desires in check, especially when Wei Ying seemed to be becoming more aware of his own feelings as well.
