{ jonesy }"Carlos, what are you doing here?"
Lando's laughter filled the place as he opened the door. Someone had knocked while he was in the kitchen making us lunch.
"I should be asking you the same thing." I turned to see Carlos standing in the doorway.
I giggled as Lando playfully spun in a circle. "Well, technically, I own the place. Jonesy and Ruthie moved in after their place got robbed. Wait–" He turned to face his old teammate. "Are you here for Ruthie?"
Clearly, Lando wasn't up to date on all the goings-on.
A slight blush settled on Carlos' cheeks. "I might be."
"Well, you're not here for Jonesy." I could only see the back of Lando's head from my spot on the couch, but I knew he was faking intimidation at Carlos right now.
The Spaniard shook his head, chuckling while doing so. "I would never dream of it." His gaze then shifted to me, "I don't see you like that, I'm sorry, Mija."
I giggled at his admittal. Why was this so funny to me?
"I'm not offended at all. Plus, we both know I'm into curly-haired British boys."
Carlos burst out laughing which only made me happier. I've been cooped up in this place for a week now, I needed this interaction.
"Be glad the little shithead never learned Spanish."
I glanced at Lando who was currently pouting at the two of us, arms crossed over his chest. "Remember, he knows I'm into him, Carlito."
Before Carlos could say anything else, Lando butted in. "Hey, stop speaking a language I don't know! I know you're talking about me."
"We're talking about how hot I think you are." I said without thinking first.
But from the blush that burned on Lando's cheeks, I knew that my not-thought-out words had a good effect. Carlos and I immediately started laughing. I winced, the pain of laughing still there, but thankfully starting to dull. My Doctor had told me laughing would hurt for a while, but the pain should be mostly gone by the time Silverstone rolls around in a few days.
The door to Ruthie's bedroom opened and she walked out in the one of the cutest casual dresses I think I've ever seen. I whistled at her and Lando clapped, my roommate immediately shying up at our appreciation for what she looked like.
But then there was Carlos who looked absolutely breathtaken. "You look beautiful, Cariño."
Ruthie immediately looked at me and I chuckled. She wanted to know what he had called her. "That's a good nickname." I sent her a smile when I confirmed her suspicions.
"You look handsome." She smiled, looking back at the Spaniard and reaching out to take his hand in hers.
They both smiled at each other for a few seconds before returning their attention to me and Lando. We all shared a few pleasantries and then Carlos and Ruthie left with a promise of potentially being back before dinner, but definitely before they needed to go to sleep.
Tomorrow was their last day of freedom before all things F1 started up again and Lando was prepared to make the most of it – well, the most he could. I had urged him to go out, to spend time with Max Fewtrell and any other friends he had that lived in the London area, but from the moment he arrived late after the race almost two full days ago, Lando refused to leave my side. Not that I'm totally complaining.
Lando went back to making our lunch and from my spot on the couch, just watching the way his body moved, I couldn't help but drift off into my thoughts. It was becoming progressively harder to not give into all of my heart's desires.
