The day of the sports festival had finally arrived. Emika and Okami were practically vibrating with excitement that morning as they waited impatiently for the bell to ring. Suki, on the other hand, was trying to fight off the urge to puke. "Ughhhhh, kill me now," Suki groaned.
"C'mon, it's not that bad. I, for one, am looking forward to crushing the rest of the school," Emika said with a sadistic grin. Okami shook her head.
"Hell no. I'll be the one crushing you ," Okami retorted. Emika gasped, mock-offended.
"How dare you! I'll pound your insignificant little skull in!!"
"Fucking hell! Stop being such over-competitive fucks for one fucking second!" Suki yelled, trying to put a stop to the fight before it could begin.
" Language!" Kendou gasped as she walked past them, looking at Suki incredulously.
"Estoy de acuerdo," Emika agreed, trying not to laugh at her friend's expense. Before Suki could muster up a reply, the bell rang and they each went their separate ways to get ready for the festival.
Suki met up with Emika and Okami again once they made it to the large field they would be competing on. Making their way through the large crowd of jittery teens was a less than pleasant experience. But alas, they eventually made it to where their two closest friends were conversing with a few of their classmates.
"Uhh... hi?" Suki made their presence known, interrupting the conversation Emika was having with Sero about who knows what in Spanish.
"Hola Suki! You feeling any better?" she questioned. Suki scowled. "I'll take that as a no . Don't worry, it'll be fine. I'm sure you can handle whatever is thrown at you." Emika reassured them. Suki sighed, giving her a small, uncertain smile. Somewhat satisfied with Suki's mediocre resolve, Emika returned to her conversation with Sero.
Without Emika's voice to focus on, Suki began to zone out, only paying attention again when they heard the word muerte in the middle of Emi's sentence, recognising the Spanish word. "You're gonna murder what now?" Suki questioned. Before anyone could answer, a voice echoed through the stadium.
"The UA sports festival is about to begin!! ARE YOU READY!" The loud cockatoo boomed, startling at least half of the student body. Present Mic began introducing the competitors class by class, each group of first years shuffling into a huddle around the stage on which Pro Hero Midnight stood, as they were called.
"Representing the students, from class 1a, Bakugou Katsuki!" She announced over the speakers, gesturing for him to take the stage. The blonde stomped his way up before standing in front of the microphone stand. He glared at the students before him.
"I'll be number one!" he stated bluntly before gremlin-stomping his way back down. Almost all of the students groaned some form of complaint about his cockiness or rudeness. Okami, in particular, made her disdain clear.
"No the fuck you won't, you fucking turd licker!" She shouted at him. Bakugou just huffed and, surprisingly, ignored the comment. After a minute, when the first years had calmed down and ceased their ruckus, Midnight began announcing again.
"Now for the fateful first game!" She exclaimed, as a gambling machine appeared on the screen behind her, randomly generating the first event they would be competing in.
After a few seconds of flicking through various options the screen stilled, reading, 'Obstacle Race', in large, bold letters. Midnight followed, announcing it to the crowd of onlookers in the stadium stands. The students were then directed to line up inside the room where the race would begin, all equally jittery with nerves.
