Diana never thought she would step foot inside her old home. Home was a loose term, this stopped being her home since she turned 11 and got that letter in the mail. She walked through the halls of the house, gripping George's hand as tight that she was sure she was going to leave fingerprints on him, everything was bare, all the furniture gone, the pictures stripped from the wall, the cupboards all cleared out.
"Is that everything?" Diana asked her father coming down the stairs. When she knocked on the front door an hour ago with George, her parents had been shocked but didn't make a fuss with the hassle of having to move out. Or when they saw George behind her, a quick tilt of his head, and the show of his wand had them shutting up.
"Yes." Her father said gruffly, Diana nodded pursing her lips, crossing her arms over her chest. She leaned against the wall, staring between her father and Harry.
"BOY!" He bellowed, Harry signed.
"He's a very nice person, isn't he?" George whispered in Diana's ear.
"Oh, please you have no idea."
"Yes?"
"I've changed my mind!" Vernon said, he started pacing up and down the empty living room. Harry rolled his eyes looking over at Diana, his face saying, can you believe this man?
"What a surprise."
"Don't you take that tone —" Petunia said, but Diana shushed her with one glare.
"It's all a lot of claptrap, I've decided I don't believe a word of it. We're staying put, we're not going anywhere." Vernon shouted, Diana huffed Harry had told her that they've gone back and forth about this for weeks now, changing his mind almost every day.
"According to you," He pointed one fat finger at Harry. "We — Petunia, Dudley, and I — are in danger. From — from —"
"Some of our lot," Harry said, gesturing between himself, Diana, and George. Vernon spared one glanced towards Diana and started pacing the room again.
"Well, I don't believe it! I was awake half the night thinking it all over, and I believe it's a plot to get the house." Harry blinked at him.
"This house? What house?" Harry shouted.
"This house!" Vernon shouted, Diana shook her head, taking a deep breath and releasing it from her nose slowly. "Our house! House prices are skyrocketing around here! You want us out of the way and then you're going to do a bit of hocus-pocus and before we know it the deeds will be in your name and —"
"Are you out of your fucking mind?" Diana cut off, her mother hissed under her breath, but Diana didn't even spare her a glance.
"Don't you dare-"
"Just in case you've forgotten. Harrys already got a house, his godfather left him one. So why would he want this one? All the happy memories? Cause I sure as fuck don't have any." There was silence, Harry looked at Diana with a small smirk playing on his lips.
"You claim this-"
"Voldemort,"
"And we've been through this about a hundred times already. This isn't a claim, its fact, Dumbledore told you last year, and Kingsley and Mr. Weasley explained it all as well. Once I'm seventeen, the protective charm that keeps me safe will break, and that exposes you as well as me. The Order is sure Voldemort will target you, whether to torture you to try and find out where I am, or because he thinks by holding you hostage I'd come and try to rescue you." This fight when on and on, Harry explained what would happen if they don't find leave and Vernon fought every explanation.
"Listen," Diana cut in, pushing herself off the wall. Her parents went quiet at her hard tone. "You will leave, you need to leave. And I'm not going to say this lightly, the death eaters will come, and they will kill us. I can protect you as best as I can, but we won't survive. If you ever cared for me at all you will go, for my protection and more importantly yours." Diana explained, she watched the shared look between her mother and father before her mother nodded and her father grabbed the last bag.
"It's time to go, come along Dudley." Diana let out a relived breath. She watched them walk out of the door for who knows how long. Her father opened the car and set the last bag inside the car.
"Well, I guess it's time to leave." Her father said, he nodded at his daughter. That was the most affection he could give her. Diana's lips pursed up, and she nodded at her father before her mother, surprisingly gave her one quick but tight hug.
"But I don't understand" Dudley said, frowning at his parents.
"What don't you understand popkin?" Petunia asked,
"Why aren't they coming with us?" Their parents froze, looking at Dudley like he had grown three heads.
"What?"
"Why aren't they coming too?" Dudley asked.
"We don't need them." But Dudley ignored his father and walked to Diana.
"I thought you were coming with, you're my sister. How am I supposed to know if you're okay?" Diana's mouth fell open, she couldn't even believe the words coming out of his mouth.
"Dudley, I-I never thought that you cared."
"Of course I did. Well...I didn't know before, considering everything-" He glanced at their parents, "But after Harry saved me, I reconsidered everything, and I'm...sorry. I want you to come with us."
George gaped at Dudley behind Diana, his mouth in a big 'o'. Diana brought her younger brother in a hug, it definitely wasn't enough to wash away what happened these last few years but it was a start. Diana only hoped she can live long enough to see her brother have a better relationship these next few years.
"Oh Dudley, you are such a strong boy." Her mother teared up, Diana rolled her eyes as she let Dudley go. Dudley walked up to Harry, extending a hand.
"Don't bother with him Dudley, he's a waste of space." His father said, Diana watched his throw a glare towards his father, before he shook his hand, extending his hand out even farther.
"I don't think you're a waste of space Harry," He said, Harry managed a smile before shaking Dudley hand.
The Dursley's climbed into the car, and Diana watched them drive away, wondering if this was the last time she was going to see them, or if they would miss her when she would pass. It was almost like George could read her thoughts, she felt his hand on her back, dragging her back out of her thoughts. She looked up at his reassuring smile, and knew everything was going to be okay.
"Let's go inside," He said, she nodded, letting him lead her inside the house. They knew that the order members would be coming to take Harry, and they needed to prepare.
