-Start of Chapter 48-

I punch in the code and step inside the dorm with Soobin trailing behind me. It's late—too late, really—and everyone else must already be fast asleep. The usual hum of chatter and laughter is absent, replaced by a peaceful stillness. It feels comforting, almost like the night is wrapping itself around us, giving us this moment of calm.

As I step out of my shoes, I glance at Soobin. He's leaning against the doorframe, eyes half-closed, clearly fighting to stay awake. He's trying so hard to wait for me, but I can see it in the way his shoulders droop, the way his head tilts slightly to the side—he's losing the battle.

"You don't have to wait for me, Soobin. Go to bed." I whisper softly, trying not to disturb the peace around us.

But Soobin just shakes his head stubbornly, mumbling, "I want to wait... for you."

I sigh, but it's hard to be annoyed when he looks like this—like a sleepy bunny who's determined to stick by my side. His hair is still messy, sticking up in every direction, and his pyjama is slightly wrinkled. He looks so soft, and something warm blooms in my chest as I take in the sight.

"Alright, but if you fall asleep on the table, don't blame me." I tease lightly, making my way to the kitchen.

He follows, though his steps are slower now, like he's dragging his feet. By the time I sit down at the small dining table with a simple meal in front of me, Soobin is already resting his head on the table, his arms folded beneath him.

Cute

I take a bite, glancing at him as he closes his eyes for a moment, then blinks them open again, clearly trying to stay awake. He's fighting sleep with everything he's got, but the way his eyelids droop says it all.

"You're gonna pass out any second now." I comment with a small laugh.

He hums in response, his voice muffled by the table. "I'm fine... just resting my eyes."

I smile, the warmth in my chest spreading. There's something so endearing about this—about how he's trying so hard just to be here with me, even when his body is begging for sleep. It makes my heart feel full, almost too full.

"You don't have to do this, you know" I say softly, reaching over to brush a strand of hair away from his face. "I'm just eating... you can go to sleep."

Soobin mumbles something incoherent, and I chuckle again, shaking my head. He's too stubborn for his own good sometimes. But instead of arguing, I continue eating in the comfortable silence, occasionally glancing at him.

Before I know it, Soobin's breathing has evened out, soft and slow, and I realize he's fallen asleep for real this time. His head is still resting on the table, his face turned slightly toward me, lips parted just a little.

The sight tugs at my heart, making it hard to focus on finishing my meal. He looks so peaceful, so vulnerable, like all the weight he carries during the day has melted away in this quiet moment.

I can't help it—I reach out, gently placing my hand on top of his. His skin is warm, soft beneath my touch, and for a moment, I just sit there, holding his hand and watching him sleep. It feels like time has slowed down, like the world outside doesn't exist anymore. It's just us, here in this quiet little bubble, and for the first time in a long time, I feel... safe.

Warmth floods through me, and I smile softly, whispering "Good night my Soobinnie..."

His hand shifts slightly under mine, and I think for a second that he's going to wake up, but he doesn't. Instead, his fingers curl around mine, holding on even in his sleep.
