-Start of Chapter 61-
The snow begins to fall harder, the ground starting to cover into a thick layer of shimmering white. The lights from the Christmas tree and surrounding shops reflect off the snow, making the entire scene sparkle like magic.
Soobin chuckles beside me, watching the snow gather on my hair and jacket. "Looks like your wish came true" he says, his voice warm, teasing.
"I guess it did" I smile, my gaze wandering to the kids nearby who are already darting through the growing snowbanks.
They squeal and laugh as they toss snowballs at each other, their voices carrying through the night. For a moment, I wonder—if my childhood had been different, would I be out here too, playing in the snow with Seojun and our friends? Would we have been this carefree, this happy?
My thoughts are cut short when something cold and wet hits my jacket. I blink in surprise, looking down at the splotch of snow on my chest.
"Hey!" I exclaim, turning to see one of the kids grinning mischievously, a half-formed snowball already in their hand. They giggle before darting behind a nearby bench, their friends egging them on.
Soobin bursts into laughter beside me. "Looks like you've been recruited into battle, Y/N."
I narrow my eyes playfully, crouching to scoop up some snow. "Oh, they don't know who they're messing with."
Before Soobin can react, I lob a snowball in his direction. It smacks against his arm, leaving a puff of white. He looks at me, mock-offended, then grins.
"Oh, it's on!" he says, scooping up his own snowball.
What starts as a playful skirmish between Soobin and me quickly draws the attention of the kids, who cheer and join in. Soon, we're all running around, ducking and dodging behind benches and trees.
Laughter fills the air as snowballs fly in every direction. Soobin's surprisingly good at aiming, managing to hit me squarely on the shoulder several times, but I'm not one to back down.
"Alright, team up!" I yell, rallying the kids to help me. Together, we ambush Soobin, bombarding him with snow until he's laughing so hard he can barely fight back.
Eventually, we all collapse into the snow, out of breath but still grinning from ear to ear. The kids scamper off, their parents calling them back, leaving Soobin and me alone under the falling snow.
"Hey is your hand okay?"
"Yep perfectly fine don't worry"
We take a few more photos by the Christmas tree, our laughter echoing softly in the chilly air. The snow has piled up now, muffling the sounds of the city and making everything feel cozy and quiet.
Soobin glances at me, brushing some snow off his jacket. "Now that were freezing" he says, his voice soft but teasing. "What else do you want to do?"
I chuckle, pretending to think hard. "Beer. Maybe some wine" I say cheekily, glancing at him out of the corner of my eye.
He groans, shaking his head. "No way. We're not drinking. I still haven't recovered from the last time I had to deal with that" he says, narrowing his eyes playfully at me.
I laugh sheepishly, rubbing the back of my neck. "Fair enough... I barely remember anything from that night anyway" I admit, feeling a bit guilty. The memory—or lack thereof—still leaves an odd taste in my mouth.
