In an distopian world the world was overtaken by machines known as Raptures. The remains of the human race have retreated underground, forming the Ark with the adroids which they dubbed Nikke being their only hope. Nikkes were lead by human commande...
The relationship between Nikkes and humans is a pelicular one, to say the least. Especially when the humans in question are commanders.
Commanders aren't normally assigned to a Nikke squad in particular. Usually an commander is assigned to the same Nikke squad at a maximum of three missions and those missions fo usually also have high time lapses.
That's for the sole reason that it was noticed that tying a commander to a Nikke squad can become problematic. There were so many cases of commanders executing Nikkes left and right, and sometimes the opposite happened as well, which was why this unnoficial rule was created.
That being said, Kumagawa Misogi was anything but normal. That is a thing that quickly becomes clear to anyone that has the fortune or misfortune of meeting here.
Which was whyhe was walking with a skip in his steps while humming some kind of melody. Anis, Marian and Rapi walked by his side, ready to depart from the Ark.
Rapi:You seem to be in a good mood, Commander.
Some might think that Kumagawa was always in a goid mood. However, Rapi felt the need to pijt that out because at this time Kumagawa's smile was a bit less blank.
Kumagawa:[Shouldn't I be? It's Squad MINUS's first mission! Well, our first official mission, that is. Isn't that a motive to celebrate?]
Anis:I still think they're just planning to get rid of us.
Kumagawa:[Ah, well, we'll just have to wait and see.]
Marian:Commander, please don't be so reckless.
Kumagawa:[Haha, Marian-chan is such a kind girl. What should I do? I really suck at social interactions...Speaking of, maybe we should hear out the girl that has been trying to get our attention for five mimutes now.]

Neon:Hello! My name is Neon.
Rapi frowned. By what she can see, this girl should originate from the same company as her.
Rapi:...A Nikke from Elysion?
Neon:I was sent to join tjis operation. Nice to meet you!
Rapi:Shifty, did you know about this.
Rapi decided to ask their operative about this new development. The holographic screen popped beside her, displaying Shifty's face.
Shifty:I got a message confirming this just now.
Rapi:Did anyone inform you about this, Commander?
Kumagawa:[Not a clue. This is the first time I heard about this.]
But it wasn't hard to come with a theory. Given his little show at the Simulation Room and the fact that Ingrid was the CEO of Elysion, Neon was probably sent to keep an eye on him.
Kumagawa didn't see this as a problem. After all, he worked side by side with Saki as his right hand when he attended Suisou, even though Saki was planning to overthrow him at the time.
Anis:Why would they send someone new at the last moment? Something's not right.
Marian:I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Anis.
Marian thought that Anis was a bit paranoid. But this last second new Nikke was certainly making this whole situation suspicious.

Light seemed to reflect in Neon's glasses, hiding her eyes as she said that. Anis only seemed to be more confused by this revelation.

Neon:My boss Ingrid told me to do my utmost at assisting you, after which I'm to report back to her. Thta is what a spy does, correct?
Anis:I, uh...I guess so?
Anis really didn't know what else to say. What was up wuth this girl?
Neon:I always wanted to be a spy! I'm looking forward to working with you!
Kumagawa tilted his head at Neon. He maintained his usual smile, even crocodile tears run down his cheeks from his eyes like rivers.
That reaction shocked the four Nikkes. Marian was the first one to speak up.
Marian:Commander! Are...Are you alright?
Kumagawa:[Incredible!]
In the next moment Kumagawa appeared in front of Neon. His hands gripped both of the girl's shoulder with an encouraging smile.
Kumagawa:[Truly outstanding! Although your conduct as a spy leaves to be desired, my heart was moved by your determination! Let's do our best! We'll make James Bound green with envy! Let's blow away anything in our path!]
Neon was touched by Kumagawa's words. Her eyes shone brightly while looking at her new commander.
Neon:Commander...You...So you understand! It'll be a pleasure to work with you!
Kumagawa:[Me too! Me too! Welcome to Squad MINUS!]
The other three Nikkes, together with Shifty, were left as spectators of this scene. They had no idea if they were supposed to laughtbor cry in such a situation, so they decided to remain blank faced through all of this.
Anis:You're sure this is going to be alright?
Shifty:Well...
Marian:The situation is indeed strange...However, the Commander seems to have counteres ir with hus own strangeness.
Anis:That's one way to put it.
Rapi:...There's nothing we can do about it now. Guess we should just focus on the mission and not give her anything bad to report back.
Anis:I guess.
Kumagawa and Neon were about done talking as well. The minus no longer held her, instead prefering to scratch his chin like some kind of detective character.
Kumagawa:[So no cleved gadgets...]
Neon:No. But I have the firepower to more than maje up for it!
Kumagawa:[That's the spirit!]
Kumagawa gave her two thumbs up. This girl was pretty fun.
Kumagawa turned around, streching his arms as he began to walk towards the elevator. His squad saw it as their signla to follow him.
Their new mission at the surfcae began. They gad to make it to a power generator, putting down any and all Raptures in their wake.
