With the new member of Squad MINUS present, they were ready to head out. As they moved on the ruined terrens of the surface world Kumagawa admired the remaind of the world, while ocasionally playing with his new cap shich happened to be part of the uniform.
Neon:So...This is the surface?
It seems Neon was looking at the ruins around them as well. Thisust have been the first time she was send on the surface.
Anis:First time?
Neon:Correct. It's so...Big. The sky isn't buzzing. The air composition is the same, but somehow it feels different.
Kumagawa:[I guess that even if something would be a perfected copy made to be so very similar to the original, it still wouldn't quite be the original.]
So this really must be Neon's first mission. Kumagawa wonders if she only became a Nikke recently.
Although he's not one to talk. He had his first mission as a commander just yesterday.
Anis:It will wear off in a day or two. We're guaranteed to run into Raptures within an hour. This is no time for sight seeing. If you waste too much time, you'll get a nice dose of electron beams straight to the brain.
Anis felt that, as Neon's senior, she should warn her about the dangers that come with such a mission. Shifty, who just contacted them just now, seemed to agree.
Shifty:Yes, you must act quickly. The objective of this mission is the control room of the power station.
Kumagawa:[We just beat an Tyrant yesterday, and now we work as electricians. Wow, we feel off so quickly! This is a new record!]
Rapi:I don't think what this is about, Commander...
Shifty:Scanning the area.
Shifty decided that it was too early in the morning for her to keep up with this eccentric Commander. Instead, she decided to quickly do her actual work.
Shifty:Arrating. Alva Particles cleaning. 42.23%...21.89%...Alva Particle concentration 2.01%. Scanning complete. According to the scan, you'll have to follow the train tracks to reach the power station. A high voltage is running through the entire mine. It's not a problem for the Nikkes, but the Commander...
Shifty finished her report while also voicing her concerns. She thinks Kumagawa must have understood the difficulty of this situation.
Kumagawa:[Okay, let's go on a trip!]
He completly dismissed those very dangers. It seems she understimated how eccentric this commander was.
Anis:What are you talking about? You'll die.
Kumagawa:[Fortunately, I have no intention to die for the time being.]
Anis:What do you mean by...Anyway, that's not a choice to make.
Kumagawa:[Oh, but if I do rnd up deep roasted that'd be considered harm at the workplace. That means I can ask for a bonus, right?]
Anis:Sorry to dissapoint you, but it doesn't work like that.
Kumagawa:[Tch, damn bureucracy...]
Rapi:...Where is the current coming from?
Rapi decided to lead the conversation back to the mission. Otherwise, she feels like they'll remain here the entire day.
Shifty:Receiving history...The city was closed five years ago to keep any Raptures from escaping. Seems like it was deliberatly leaked outside. The line was closed, so the station has been producing energy automanously.
Anis:What about the humans that are still in the city.
Shifty:Well...
Anis:Ah, considering what we'll run into, it's best they remain inside.
Rapi:Our first order of bussiness is go cut power to the line. Is there any way we can do that?
Shifty:Yes. I'll mark the location of the control room on the map.
Rapi stared at her device, waiting to get the coordinates desired. Once they were transfered, she have a nod of her head.
Rapi:Commander, I'm ready.
Kumagawa:[Ah, well, we're going on a trip either way. Let's go.]
Rapi:Yes, Commander.
Neon:...Ah!
Neon's yelp alerted the two other Nikkes. Both Anis and Rapi circled around Kumagawa, looking for any Raptures while prepared to defend their commander.
Anis:Rapi!
Rapi:Commander, get behind me! Shifty, watch my back!
Kumagawa:[Ahaha, I'm gonna blush! No one has ever shown so much concern for me! It truly warms my heart...But the object of your concern isn't here.]
Neon:...Did I say something wrong?
Anis:Wait...Neon, you didn't see Raptures aproaching?
Neon:No, I didn't.
Anis:Let's get this straight, Neon. There's a rule that any Nikke who come up to the surface must follow. You don't blurt things out indiscremetly, got it?
Neon:I...I understand. Is this okay?
Anis:Yeah.
Kumagawa:[I mean, no one got blown apart from a random shot.]
Anis:Please don't jinx it...
Rapi:What was that all about then?
Neon:I just thought about something. If the current running through the line is the problem, why doesn't the Commander just wear rubber boots?
Shifty:Uh...
Kumagawa:[You think I'd look good in them?]
Anis:I mean, black really suits you.
Kumagawa:[Yes! My dark character design is shinning through!]
Anis:Bur rubber boots...Not bad, huh?
Shifty:...Not bad? Do you realize how many voltes qre running through that line!? A human would be burned to a crisp within seconds!
A normal human would be burned to a crisp within seconds. Kumagawa has withstood much stronger phenomenons, but that's not something he'll reveal yet.
Neon really did kind of remind him of Itami Koga. Both were always ready for action, and really airheaded.
Shifty:...What I mean is, it's impractical.
Anis:Really? Didn't you have more to say?
Anis frowned at Shifty, knowing she was gonna go through a whole tirade. At this provocation, Shifty choose to tirn her head away and ignore Anis.
Neon:What do you say, Commander?
Kumagawa:[Let's do it! Time for a redesign!]
Anis:It's really a redesign if you just get boots instead of shoes?
Kumagawa:[But of course! Such are the profpund ways of Shounen Jump designs.]
Shifty:...I don't like this one bit.
Rapi:Hm...Let's just try to go and cut power from the control room first.
Kumagawa:[Aww, but I really wanted to that redesign...]
