LEAH'S P.O.V

"We shouldn't do this," I said and Kayden smiled mischievously.
"Kayden, let's be calm and talk about this," I added and he raised an eyebrow.

"You act like I'm a dog that you can just tame. I've got a mind of my own, you know," Kayden said and I nodded.

"Yes, I know that. That's why I'm asking you to use that mind of yours to assess this situation."

"Are you empathizing with them?" Kayden asked and I shrugged.

"No...empathizing?...no. I've got nothing to do with empathy," I said but stood back to think about it.

_Empathy._

I was just called to kill someone I don't know anything about. Why should I kill him? He didn't hurt me, Josiah did. Josiah killed my dad and made my mum forget that I existed. He made my life a road full of fruitless journey and to do what? To kill someone that didn't do anything to me? Someone who has his family to take care of? We can't take him away from his parents.

I wasn't brainwashed by Josiah but I don't know why I continued following him without asking any questions. Perhaps, I was just scared of dying but it's different now, I can stand for myself. Josiah can't continue riding me and I have to show him just that.

For the first time ever, I felt my heart settle. I became free within, like some force was holding me captive and now, I'm loose. I finally saw and thought right. Gabriel isn't going to die and I won't allow it but for now I still have to act like I'm one of them.

"You're here to kill him. Don't tell me you're changing your mind because he's a young boy," Kayden said and I shook my head.

"New girl?" Gabriel spoke. Tears welled up in his eyes but he tried his best to hold it in. I could tell that life for him has been tough and seeing his eyes made me want to tear up for him. "You can't be part of this," he added.

"Well, I'm sorry handsome," I said and walked towards Kayden. "You're meant to die but not just now,"

"C'mon," Kayden yelled frustrated.

"Let's go, Kayden," I said and he frowned.

"Just to be clear, you didnt tame me," he replied me. He walked out of the house slamming the door as he walked away.

"Kayden I'm coming with," I yelled before looking at the family we just terrified. "I'm so sorry. Yes, we're supernaturals and so is your son but I won't let them harm him." I said to his parents and his mom nodded.

"Is my brother going to be okay?" His little sister said and I nodded.

"Oh..wait till he flies. He is strong and he will get through this," I replied the little girl, placing my hands on her hair.

"Gabriel, do well to speak with that old man again. You really need this if you want to save your family. I can't beat them but I can make sure the battle doesn't happen in your world," I said and he nodded.

I stared at them again and gave his sister a warm smile before walking out of the door. I closed the door behind me seeing Kayden looking me in the eyes.

Oh shit. He heard.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"What took you so long?" He asked and I let out a breath.

"I was just.." I stuttered.

"You really have a stony heart. Staying there for a long time after terrifying them," he said and laughed.

"Sure.. that's the plan. They don't know what's coming for them," I said, laughing in pretence. "Well, don't make this kind of mistake again and get ready to face Josiah," I added and he scoffed.

It's surprising that he thinks he can't be tamed. We all have been tamed since we entered into the same boat with Josiah. He's, indeed, a witch. Having a crew that does his dirty work, fighting against his enemies, he really is something.

JOSIAH'S P.O.V

I kept my mouth shut and eyes fixed on Kayden and Leah as they played together, beating themselves to the ground while laughing. I felt rage towards them but I just knew this wasn't the time to express it.

I know what she is up to. I was there - fucking there. She didn't have to change her mind that way but yet she did. Why did Kayden have to go there? Nephlims have a specific, stupid power of putting themselves into someone's shoes. Their enpathy is on another level and that was why I never wanted her to see the Third God in a sad term until the time she kills him.

Kayden spoilt that aspect of the plan and now I have to find another way to convince her to kill the Third God without letting her know that I know about it. Seeing how Kayden is quick with finishing up things, telling him about Leah won't be a good idea. He might end up killing her. I have to think thoroughly about this and I am not going anywhere with just thinking about it.

What the fuck do I do?

"So Kayden, I never asked where you went," I said, sitting up the gently, seeing him as he paused while he and Leah stared at themselves. "And Leah you were also late from school," I sniffed hardly before clearing my throat.

"I just had something to do and don't ask what. It is none of your business," Kayden said. He played the 'you are not the boss' card and if I react to it, that will only show that I know something. This is getting harder than I thought.

"Well as for me, I saw a girl named Theresa. Pretty funny girl. So I just hung out with her and lost track of time," Leah lied. If I hadn't followed their move, I would have believed that instantly. She is really good at lying.

As long as they stay quiet and within my reach, I will make sure they get me to the point I want to attain. Beware of me, Third God.
