Manic informed Tails that they'll be leaving in a couple of weeks 'which he understood since Sonic is still shaken up from the experience'.
Although Knuckles didn't take it as well as Tails did.
Everyone knew they were running out of time to make things right with Sonic.
They checked on him one by one but he wasn't feeling himself.
Manic cared enough to schedule some therapy for him when they get back to mobotropolis.
Sonic remained in his room for week in a half.
Sonic does step out of the room but only when Manic with him so he can get some air.
About the day before the day they would leave for mobotropolis, Knuckles needed to find a way to hang out with Sonic.
Tails walked to the room and thought, "I hope we get to spend time with him before he leaves tomorrow."
He knocked on the door before Manic opened it and said, "What's up Tails?"
Tails asked, "Manic? I know this is sudden but, is there any chance Sonic can come with us to the carnival?"
Manic shook his head and answered, "No, it's a bit noisy and the screams are only going to remind Sonic about what happened. Besides, he's been through enough already."
Tails looks down 'knowing having fun will just make him scared and have flashbacks about those haunting days' he nodded in understanding.
He then said to him, "It's just that... We wanted to hang out with him and apologize before you two leave."
Manic replied to him, "I understand Tails but he's been through enough already. So it's best if you all leave him alone and let him get some rest."
Tails nodded in understanding as Manic asked, "Look, can you accompany me to town? I promised Sonic I get him chilidogs for dinner."
Tails nodded.
Manic looks at Sonic and said, "Sonic. I'm gonna go out for a bit. I'll be back with the chilidogs."
Sonic answered while looking at him, "Okay..."
Manic walks out and close d the door.
Sonic was a bit bored before he turned on the tv to see what's on.
About a few minutes later, Sonic got a knock on the door.
He hesitated before he got up and asked, "H-Hello?"
A knock on the door was heard before Sonic slowly opened the door.
It was just Knuckles with a sad smile before he frowned and greeted, "Hey."
Sonic replied, "Hi. Did you need anything?"
Knuckles said to him as he rubbed his arm, "Just to talk and hang out. Tails told me you don't want to hang out at the carnival."
Sonic was a bit silent before he said, "Yeah. I can't do anything fun right now."
Knuckles asked uneasily, "Can I at least hang out with you until Manic gets back?"
Sonic slowly nodded before he lets him in.
Sonic closed the door before Knuckles said sadly, "Sonic. We really owe you a really big apology. Most of all me. We were so selfish and we said something that hurt you."
Sonic replied casually but sadly, "Don't worry about it. I'm only lucky you kinda saved me. I've been aware of what had happened but most of the voices were a blur. I..."
Knuckles then said, "You didn't know what you were doing so you are not at fault. But..."
Sonic was confused but that was when Knuckles said, "Sonic... I need to tell you something but... I like to hang out with you if that's okay."
Sonic held his hand before he sighed deeply. But that was when he hugged him as Knuckles hugged back.
For over an hour, Sonic and Knuckles hung out by watching a movie while they sat close to each other.
The red echidna couldn't help but blush while he wrapped an arm around Sonic.
Once the movie was over Knuckles got up as Sonic did.
Before Knuckles could leave he stopped at the door.
Sonic asked, "Do you need to tell me something?"
Knuckles blushed as he confessed, "Yeah. Sonic? Reasons why I was cold hearted was cause, I was scared. I was scared of my feelings. Sonic? What I wanted to say is..."
He then said softly with nervous eyes, "I love you..."
Sonic blushed a bright red before Knuckles walked out.
Sonic sat down about a few seconds before he said, "He loved me. He really loved me. I dunno what to say."
Though he indeed will say something before he leaves the motel.
