The next morning, the hedgehog brothers woke up and started packing.
After they checked out they walked out of the motel and waited for the vehicle Jules had arranged for them to get to the airport safely.
While they waited, everyone apologized to Sonic.
Though Sonic forgives them, he needed time to recover.
Tails asked, "So how long until...?"
Manic answered as he pats Sonics back, "It will take a while until he's back to his old cocky self. But he'll recover. However it will be difficult, I mean he had some nightmares about the event."
Tails replied as he nodded, "Oh..."
That was when Manic said to him, "Look. Until he's back to his old self, I'm gonna haft to keep an eye on him at mobotropolis."
Knuckles asked, "You mean we won't see him for a while or hang out with him?"
Tails said sadly, "That's the way it has to be I'm afraid."
Manic sighed deeply before he said, "I'll give you a few minutes to say goodbye Red."
He and Tails spotted the car before they walk to the car and got the luggage to the car, leaving Sonic and Knuckles to talk.
Knuckles asked sadly, "Do you haft to go?"
Sonic answered him shyly, "Knux. I haft to. I gotta recover a little. But, was what you said true?"
Knuckles nodded and said, "Yes. I love you. I just wish I told you sooner. If I had just known what was going, had I not been so stupid. None of this woulda happened."
That was when Sonic kissed him 'which resulted in Knuckles kissing back'.
Sonic broke the kiss before he said shyly, "Don't blame yourself. Also I love you too. Maybe when I recover. We can go out just you and me."
Knuckles smiled softly before he said, "I like that very much. So it's a date?"
Sonic said as he nodded, "Yeah a date."
Then Manic shouted from the car, "COME ON SONIC OR WE'LL BE LATE FOR OUR FLIGHT!!"
Sonic shouted back, "I'LL BE RIGHT THERE BIG BROTHER!!"
Sonic turns to Knuckles before he said, "Thank you. I love you. I'll see you later."
Sonic kissed Knuckles cheek before he rushed to Manic and got in the car with him.
Knuckles smiled and blushed as he felt his cheek.
Knuckles then whispered as the wind blew, "I'll see you soon, my dear blue angel."
Everyone waved goodbye as Sonic can see through the rear view mirror.
Though when they passed a tree, Sonic and Manic coulda sworn he saw the ghosts of Cayden and Soaring smiling at them while waving at them while Cayden had his arm wrapped around Soaring.
It wasn't a creepy smile, it was a peaceful happy smile.
The two brothers looked out the window before seeing them disappear while Cayden said, "Thank you..."
The two looked at each other before they shrugged and sat back on their seats.
To this day, things were peaceful for now. Knuckles still waited for Sonic to recover but he gets letters about his progress and how he misses him.
Amy is still blind but she was able to get a seeing eye dog, Tails and Boomer became paranormal experts.
Silver was still wheelchair bound but he does get help from Blaze most of the time.
About a year later, Sonic was his old self again and it was about a week later he and Knuckles started dating and the two had been inseparable since.
Since a year after that ghost incident, Sonic and Knuckles love was as strong and unbreakable.
Just like a certain couple from a long time.
