The Goddess's Blessing

Chapter Sixteen

I felt a sharp pain in my jaw as a fist connected with it causing my head to turn towards the left side ever so slightly. It caught me off guard but luckily, I was quick enough to stop myself from biting my tongue. I heard Luca shout from the background "What are you doing man? Pay attention. What is with you, man?" I growled in frustration as I turned to look at my opponent I was fighting in the boxing ring who looked just as surprised as everyone else did who was watching the fight that he managed to land a hit on me. Without thinking twice, I quickly swung a punch of my own causing him to fall to the ground with a loud thump. 

As he stood back up slowly and carefully, he began rubbing his jaw "Damn man that really hurt. Don't you know how to take it easy?" I rolled my eyes "Do you think a rogue or a hunter will go easy on you just because you ask them to?" The guy sighed "Jeez I was just asking as this is only a practice fight." I snorted as his pathic excuse "You have been training with us for a few months now and you know we don't go easy on anyone. Besides if went easy on you how would you learn to protect yourself or other people against the people who will do anything they can to kill you and trust me when I say that won't be going easy on you or others. They won't stop attacking you when you are down either so be lucky, we don't start attacking you when you are down like they would."

"Damn okay. Who put your panties in a twist?" I locked eyes with him as I growled "Don't test me, kid." He rolled his "Whatever." Without another word, he turned around and walked away and I sighed and muttered under my breath "Damn teenagers." I heard Luca come up beside me before saying "I know right? They think they know everything." I rolled my eyes before looking at him and saying, "Like you were any better at that age." He scoffed "Oh please I wasn't that bad." I rolled my eyes "You know you are right you weren't that bad." I paused and as I did Luca looked so pleased with himself "You were so much worse. You put your poor mother through so much grief." His eyes grew wide with shock "Hey I was not." I looked at him in disbelief before shaking my head "Whatever helps you sleep at night." 

Luca scoffed "What is wrong with you today? You are normally not this testy." I sighed "Don't worry about it. I am fine." Just as I said, my eyes began scanning the grounds around the facility like I have been doing for the hundredth time today, looking for any signs of my mate again. I hoped I could spot her again but to no luck and just remembering her panicked expression was making my heart feel heavy in my chest. Just as I gave up looking for her with a sigh Luca suddenly asked, "Does this have something to do with that mate of yours?" I could hear displeasure in his tone as he spoke, and I couldn't help but feel an annoyed reaction which caused me to snap back "How about you learn to mind your own business?" He pressed his lips together before nodding his head "I will take that as a yes."

I looked at him with narrowed eyes "Oh yeah and what about you?" He looked at me confused "What do you mean by-" he began to ask but I cut him off. "Has your own mate decided to talk to you yet?" He looked at me "Damn dude. Someone needs to take a chill pill. You are not the first male to receive the silent treatment from their mate, but we don't take our frustrations out on others." I rolled my eyes "You do it all the time I don't want to hear it." Luca sighed "Well at least I'm trying not to, but I can't say the same about you."

I sighed "Look I'm sorry but at least yours isn't leaving you when the week is up." Luca raised his eyebrow as he said, "Shouldn't you consider that a good thing?" The moment I turned to look at him and glare at him he raised his hands up as a sign of surrender before adding "I'm only saying that, so you don't have to keep lying to your pack about who or what she is. That way you don't have to worry about it anymore." I rolled my eyes "That may be the case, but the goddess put us together in the first place and I still don't know why. I don't want to feel like I am making a big mistake by letting her go like this." 

Luca sighed and was about to say something when my phone went off, so I held up my finger telling him one moment. When I looked at my phone, I noticed Mia calling me, so I picked up even though I was supposed to be training. Luca rolled his eyes but walked toward everyone to take over the training as he knew the drill by now. "This is Kayden." I could hear Mia chuckle slightly on the other line "Well I certainly hope so." I rolled my eyes at her sarcasm "What's up Mia? You normally don't call when I'm training."
