The Goddess's Blessing

Chapter Four

I felt the wind rush past my face as it tried to push against my body as if to attempt to try and force me to slow down but neither my wolf nor I was having any of it as we were both very determined to find our mate. I could see the greenery of the trees and grass as they practically passed by me like a blur. I felt my chest tighten with worry for her well-being of my mate as I felt concerned that something happened to her and the idea of her hurt somewhere made a strong sense of fear and dread settle in the pit of my stomach. But I felt a bit of conflicting emotions as I also felt anger as I couldn't believe she would dare leave the cell without my permission I mean honestly if anyone found out what she was it would be like all hell breaking loose and she would cause a panic. I felt a growl emanate from my chest as I couldn't help wondering what the hell she was thinking and why the hell would she leave the cell when she was the one who said she would go inside it in the first place. 

I was also feeling incredibly frustrated as I had yet to pick up my mate's scent no matter how far I ran. I checked the entire building and there wasn't even a bit of her scent anywhere in the building and I still can't fathom how she even escaped in the first place although the sight of those two men in her cage still pisses me off, but I can't focus on that rn as I need to find my mate. That is why I came to search outside, and I thought I would have picked her scent by now as it couldn't have been that long ago since she escaped so it makes no sense of how I can't seem to pick up her scent. 

I suddenly stopped running as the sound of children's laughter filled my ears which is rather strange as there isn't a single kid in the park at the moment as most of them have gone home now. Normally I would just ignore it, and I know I should ignore it and continue to look for my mate but something in my gut told me to follow sound, so I did. The squeals of laughter led me past the park and as I got closer that's when I noticed them.

I saw the children all laughing as they tried to grab another little girl and then all had smiles on their faces and then I saw her. At first, all I saw was a silver shimmering blur before I noticed that silver blur was my mate but watched as she came into focus as she stopped right behind the little girl. Before the little girl even noticed she was behind my mate quickly grabbed her underneath her arms and tossed her lightly in the air with a light spin so when she came down, she was facing my mate as she caught her. My mate had the loveliest smile on her as the little girl giggled in pure delight at her actions and I couldn't help but to smile as I watched my mate play with these children. 

As soon as my mate set the little girl down so her feet were firmly on the ground my mate then leaned back and fell dramatically to lay on the ground laying on her all the while laughing cheerfully. As soon as she lay on the ground all the children began to follow her lead and they all lay on the ground on either side of her. I couldn't help smiling as I watched as they all lay there laughing and smiling at one another as if they were having the time of their lives. It is honestly the sweetest and cutest thing I ever saw, and my heartbeat quickened slightly as my mate looked even more radiant than when I first saw her. I leaned against the tree I was next to as I watched as my mate leaned upright on her elbow as she interacted with the children and even from here, I could see the smiles on the children's faces as they spoke to her with excitement written all over their faces. I couldn't what they were saying from where I was standing but I didn't dare to move closer as they would notice me if I did that, and I didn't want to ruin this beautiful scene in front of me just yet. 

I watched as my mate sat up as they were talking and the moment, she did so do so the children began copy her it was so sweet watching them do. I could see my mate's lips moving as she spoke to the children and then suddenly a mischievous grin crossed her lips, and she suddenly pulled the one little girl into her lap and proceeded to begin tickling the little girl. The little girl immediately erupted in laughter and when my mate stopped tickling, and the little girl had calmed down a bit she suddenly reached up and wrapped her arms around my mate's neck and hugged her. My mate smiled softly as she hugged her back but before their hug could end the other children got up and then they all hugged her too creating a group hug. I felt myself swoon a bit at just how sweet a moment I am witnessing, and I am really glad I listened to my gut or else I would have missed this heartwarming moment.
