The Angel of Death

Part one

Family's disgust, thankless child, shameless girl... The angrily spoken ugly words were just piercing Tessa's heart again and again all though they were spoken hours before. Her tears have been dried on her cheeks now.

Her mother just stood there and did nothing while the whole McCartney clan screamed and shouted at her for bringing shame to all family.

Finally she gathered enough strength to stand up from the dirty floor where she had fallen when her father pushed her out of the door.

She lay there and cried for hours but no one came out to take her back, not even her mother or sister.

Who was she kidding? Her mother would never go against her husband, not even for her own daughter. Sir John McCartney was a formidable man, no one wishes to be on his wrong side.

Maybe they really have disowned her, like her father has said.

"You have brought shame to the name that has been respected and honored for 400 years, blackened your reputation and as of your sisters. Who would want to marry Misha if they come know she live under the same roof with you!

Now only way to save our family's honour is to disown you Tesselina."

"No... father please forgive me. I beg you..."

"I can't Tesselina, your crime is unforgivable, You are no longer a McCartney and no longer one of my child, there for you have no place in my house. I John McCartney the 3rd disown you and take back everything that has been given to you for being my daughter. " Her father's words have burned a hole in her heart and she knew she has lost everything even before he dragged her through the main hall, gallery then the lawn and threw her out of the gate.

Now she has nothing. No family, no friends and no house. Where would she go? What would she do now?

Wiping her tears she gathered up the few of the items that was flung out to her. Two gowns, a now broken hair brush and a bundle containing god knows what.

Black clouds have gathered over her head, a lighting illuminated her path for a second before it started raining heavily as if even God was angry for what she has done.

One last look at the Mansion, that has been her home for last 19 years before she started walking away in to the dark night.

The sky darkened heavily while raining relentlessly.

"It was all my fault, all of it. All of it. All of it" blabbering like crazy she kept walking and walking, not knowing or caring where her steps were taking her. Tears and rain clouding her vision.

Her feet now contacted muddy surface, making her realize she passed the entire McCartney estate colony and has reached the edge of the Talmacian village where her old hand maid Leanete lives with her grandson Gilbert.

Leanete has always been nice to her but had to be released from her duties when she completely lost her eyesight at the age of 80. Father said she would be better at her own house where her family would take care of her.

How she wanted Leanete to stay at the McCartney Mansion, how much she wanted to ask father not to let Leanete go. She would have taken care of her as she has taken care of her and her sisters Misha and Gabby.

She even asked mother to convince father to let Leanete live with them, but mother as always showed no feelings for her life long maid and once friend Leanete. "You shouldn't question your father's actions Tessa. He knows what he is doing. As it is she no longer useful to us." Her mother has said.

"But mother, she has lived with us all her life."

"Not all her life. She had enough life outside of here to marry and make children"

"But her husband and son died in the village fire. Who would take care of her now?"

"Oh she has a grandson. Gilbert I think his name is, he'll look after his grandmother"

"But mother..."

"Enough Tessa." Ellena McCartney's loud voice was enough to quite Tessa and she quietly saw Leanete asscorted out of her home and her life. That day she has not only lost a maid but the only person who actually cared for her.

It was not enough that she was robbed of the loving and caring maid, her father even forbidden her to see her ever again.

"I forbid all my family to ever seeing of meeting Leanete. It would be best for her to not be reminded of the lush and luxurious life she has lived here" was Sir John McCartney's exact words.

Lush & luxurious? Tessa wanted to laugh at that but she would not dare.
Her would be furious if her even saw his daughters not behaving the way they should. Like McCartneys.

Well now he has disowned her and she is free of his rules, she can go and see dear Leanete. For a moment the idea played in her mind but she ruled it out. What would she say to Leanete? How would she explain her situation? What would Leanete think of her? She would not kick her out of her house like her parents did but she would hate her for ruining her life.

She may let her stay with her or maybe she would go and try to speak to her father.

"No no no... it wouldn't be good. Poor Leanete would be thrown out once again because of me. I can't do this to her. Not dear Leanete." She said to herself before turning away from the village and crossing the narrow path that separated the village from the jungle.

She wouldn't worry poor dear Leanete. Not for her. She is not worth it. All her life has been trained to be a lady but what she has done? Threw away everything and for what?

Its all her fault. Her family is right. She is unworthy. Unworthy to live. Yes. Yes it is a perfect punishment for her. She should kill her self.

Her family has disowned her. She has nowhere to go no one to live for.

Suddenly her wet skirt got stuck and caught her leg, making her tumble in a muddy ditch. Covering her entire little form in sticky wet gooie mud.

She tried to regain her position but her clothes became too heavy for her to stand.

Her feet couldn't find any surface to stand on. As she struggle to stand she went little more deeper.

Then she realized what it was. Quicksand.
