The Angel of Death

Part - 14

One moment she was trying to swim across the river and next she was helplessly gulping cold water of it.

As soon as the land vanished from beneath her feet, Tessa went down like a stone thanks to her less then nothing swimming lessons.

Well this is it then, if not by being shredded by the beasts then by the icy water of the river. The river bed was much better grave then the beast's stomach.

As she accepted her fate and stopped fighting, a strong arm encircled around her waist and pulled out.

Stefan watched in horror when Tessa threw opened the gate and ran in the river.

Every nerve in his body freezed, heart thumped hard in his chest and cold sweat broke on his skin.

The stupid woman was trying to kill herself!

The ever hungry beasts snapped their jaws waiting for the free meal and pushing each other aside to get to Tessa first.

Suddenly she disappeared in the middle of the river and his senses snapped back. He ran after her and before Tessa's body could touch the river bed, he scooped her in his arm and swam back.

Tessa started thrashing when she realized Stefan has saved her once again and taking her back in the safety on his boundary.

"Let go of me you brute... let go of me" she screamed with as much force as she have after the near death experience, but he was simply too strong for her.

He dragged her in with him and closed the gate with the heel of his boot, then threw the flower climber over it, but while doing it he relaxed his hold on Tessa and she bit his wrist hard.

He cursed and let her go immediately, she ran towards the gate but by the time he was in control again and caught her hand, pulling her and crushing her to him.

She brought both her arms in and pushed against his shoulders still shouting "Let. Go. Of Me"

"Shhhh.... Calm down Tessa baby, please calm down. You slapped me, you bit me, what's got into you?"

"What's got in to me? Suddenly you decided to throw me out and you ask what's got into me." She screamed looking up to him, still trying to push him away.

"I never said I was going to throw you out..."

"Oh no, you didn't. You are way too merciful. But I don't need your mercy. Just let me go."

"So you can run out again?"

"Yes"

"For what?"

"To kill myself, to finish this miserable life of mine. What do you care?"

"What if say I do care?"

"You don't "

"I do and deep down you know it."

"I don't" she said stubbornly.

"Then why you want to give your life for me?"

"For you?" She laughed bitterly "you dream, why would I give my life for you. I hate you"

"You don't"

"I hate you, I hate you, I hate you...." she screamed hitting on his chest before looking up in his eyes but when she did she saw the pain her words was causing him and before she could stop herself "I love you" she blurted.

He closed his eyes tightly and crushed her to him "Ah... you don't know what you did to me woman"

"I slapped and bit you"

He laughed and said " That too, but you reminded me that I still have a heart and it belongs to you" before crushing her mouth with his.

Tessa forgot everything the moment his tongue slipped in her mouth, tears of happiness rolled down from the corner her eyes but as always her happiness was short lived.

Stefan broke the kiss with Tiny's continuous barking, he was about to snap at the dog when he saw why he was barking. He felt Tessa shudder with fright and knew there were more beasts behind him too.

Hundreds of beasts were surrounding them. Dark fur and yellow eyes. Jaws snapping and growling low in their throats.

"Tessa... baby look at me." He said slowly and calmly.

She did and he noticed her hold on him became firm. He smiled, his Angel, fierce and protective for him.

"Listen to me babe, when I say you take Ambrosden and run way as far as possible."

She started shaking her head even before he could finish.

"Please baby, just obey me for once" he pleaded.

"I. Am. Not. Leaving. You" she said through clutch jaws.

"You have to. They are too many. I won't be able to fight them if I have to protect you too. Alone I can handle them" he lied.

She was still shaking her head when he said "I love you woman. Just don't make me loose you. I swear I can handle them alone if I don't have look after you. Okay?"

She just shook her head again, tears fell from her eyes. He just scooped her up and kissed her before releasing her and mouthed "now"

She still shook her head and he had no choice to howl her atop the waiting horse before giving a rap on its rump and shout take care of her friend"

The beasts broke into running, all towards him but few towards the running horse too.

Alayken who was standing hidden by Tiatan's magic said to him "Wonderfully done warlock, see that she never reaches the end of the jungle. Finish her and come back."

"But Stefan?" The confused warlock asked.

"What about him? Its just a test for him, to see he hasn't lost his strength and skills." Alayken said with a dismissing wave of hand. Before vanishing.

"Bloody hell, he uses my magic as if its his" Tiatan muttered sullenly before stomping after Tessa.
