Three months had passed since Nicole and Devin decided they were ready to start a family, and life had been smooth. Nicole had kept up with her regular check-ups and wasn't expectin' anything unusual when she headed to the doctor that day. It was just a routine visit, somethin' she had done plenty of times before.

But this time, somethin' was different.

As Nicole sat in the doctor's office, waitin' for the results, she felt a slight tension in the air. She had been feelin' a little off lately—tired, a little more emotional than usual—but she chalked it up to work stress or just life in general. But when the doctor came in, lookin' at her with a soft smile, Nicole's heart skipped a beat.

"Nicole," the doctor began, her voice calm, "it looks like you're pregnant. About a month and a half."

Nicole blinked, tryin' to process what she had just heard. Pregnant? She hadn't expected it to happen so soon, but here it was—reality hittin' her like a wave. Her heart raced as she sat there, her mind spinnin'.

"You're sure?" Nicole asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The doctor nodded, smilin'. "Yes, we're sure. Congratulations, Nicole."

Nicole couldn't believe it. She was pregnant. She sat there in disbelief, her hand instinctively movin' to her stomach. A baby. She and Devin were actually about to start a family.

Plannin' the Surprise

After leavin' the doctor's office, Nicole's mind was racin' with excitement and nerves. She couldn't wait to tell Devin, but she wanted it to be special—somethin' he'd never forget. She thought about it all the way home, tryin' to come up with the perfect way to break the news.

By the time she got back, she had a plan.

Nicole spent the next couple of hours gettin' everything ready. She wanted this moment to be perfect, so she went out and bought a tiny pair of baby shoes, wrapped them in a small box, and set it on the dining table. She also grabbed a pregnancy test to leave beside the shoes, just to make it crystal clear.

Devin had no idea what was comin'.

When he got home later that night, Nicole greeted him with a smile, but she was buzzin' with excitement on the inside. She watched as he took off his jacket and shoes, completely oblivious to the surprise waitin' for him.

"I got somethin' for you," Nicole said casually, tryin' to keep her cool.

Devin raised an eyebrow, smilin' as he walked over to the table. "Oh yeah? What's this?"

Nicole nodded toward the small box on the table. "Open it."

Devin gave her a curious look but didn't question it. He picked up the box, unwrapin' it slowly. When he opened the lid and saw the tiny baby shoes inside, he froze. For a moment, he didn't say anything—just stared at the shoes, tryin' to process what it meant.

Nicole couldn't help but laugh softly at his reaction. "You okay?"

Devin finally looked up at her, his eyes wide with disbelief. "Wait...are you serious?"

Nicole nodded, her smile growin'. "Yeah, Dev. I'm pregnant."

Devin's face lit up with shock and excitement. He couldn't believe it. "For real? You're pregnant?"

Nicole laughed, noddin' again. "Yeah, I'm about a month and a half. I just found out today."

Devin let out a disbelievin' laugh, his hands runnin' over his face as he tried to process the news. "I can't believe it...we're havin' a baby."

Nicole felt a wave of love rush through her as she watched his reaction. She had never seen him so happy, so overwhelmed with joy. "Yeah, we are."

Devin walked over to her, pullin' her into his arms, holdin' her tight as he kissed the top of her head. "Nic, this is...I don't even have the words. I'm so happy."

Nicole smiled, feelin' the warmth of his embrace. "Me too, Dev. I couldn't wait to tell you."

Devin pulled back, lookin' into her eyes, his hands restin' on her stomach. "I can't believe it. We're really doin' this."

Nicole laughed softly, her heart full. "Yeah, we are. We're really doin' this."

The Joy of the Moment

For the rest of the night, Devin couldn't stop talkin' about the baby. He kept askin' questions, dreamin' about what their child would be like, what kind of parents they'd be, and how their lives were about to change forever. Nicole had never seen him so excited, and it filled her heart with so much joy to know that they were on this journey together.

As they sat on the couch later that night, Devin turned to Nicole, his eyes still full of disbelief and happiness. "I can't believe you did all this for me. This is the best surprise I've ever had."

Nicole smiled, leanin' into him. "I wanted it to be special. You deserve that."

Devin kissed her softly, his voice full of emotion. "This is more than special, Nic. This is everything."

They sat there for a while, holdin' each other, both of them feelin' the weight and joy of the moment. They were about to start a family—somethin' they had dreamed about, and now it was finally real.
