It had been a while since Nicole had taken some time for herself, so when her girls suggested a spa day and some shopping, she was all in. The week had been busy, and she needed the break. Plus, it was always good to catch up with her friends, laugh, and just enjoy the moment without any responsibilities for a little while. They started the day at a spa, where they treated themselves to massages, facials, and a little girl talk. Tasha, her ride-or-die, was there, along with a few other homegirls, and they were all in good spirits.
"Girl, you been workin' too hard," Tasha said as they sipped their cucumber water after the spa treatment. "You need days like this more often."
Nicole laughed, feelin' relaxed and carefree. "You ain't never lied. I didn't even realize how much I needed this."
After the spa, they hit the mall for some shopping. The vibe was light, full of laughter, and Nicole felt like she was reconnectin' with her old self, the part of her that could just enjoy life without all the pressure.
Chillin' at Tasha's Place
Once they had done enough damage at the mall, the girls headed over to Tasha's house. It was just one of those laid-back afternoons, full of good vibes. Tasha's family was around, and the house was filled with the sounds of laughter and a movie playin' in the background.
Nicole found herself loungin' on the couch, enjoyin' the peace of the moment. Her mind started driftin' back to everything goin' on in her life—how far she and Devin had come, how Amani was growin' up so fast, and the possibility of expandin' their family still lingerin' in the back of her mind.
"You good, Nic?" Tasha asked, sittin' down next to her.
Nicole smiled softly. "Yeah, I'm good. Just thinkin'. I got a lot on my mind lately."
Tasha raised an eyebrow. "You thinkin' 'bout baby number two, huh?"
Nicole chuckled, noddin'. "Yeah. We been talkin' 'bout it, but I ain't tryin' to stress. Just takin' it one day at a time."
Tasha grinned. "Well, whenever it happens, you know I'm gon' be there. You and Dev already built somethin' beautiful."
Headin' Home
By the time Nicole got home, the house was quiet. Devin had already put Amani to bed, and he was watchin' a game in the livin' room. Nicole smiled as she walked in, feelin' grateful for the life they had built together.
"Hey, babe," Devin called out. "Have fun with the girls?"
Nicole leaned over the back of the couch, kissin' him softly. "Yeah, it was a good day. Exactly what I needed."
She headed upstairs, ready to wind down. After a long day out, all she wanted was a hot shower and a little time to herself. As the water streamed down, her mind wandered again—this time to the possibility of her being pregnant. The thought had been in the back of her mind for a while now, and the curiosity was startin' to get to her.
The Test
After her shower, Nicole wrapped herself in a towel and stood in front of the mirror. She glanced at the bathroom cabinet, where she had a pregnancy test tucked away. She hadn't planned to take it today, but somethin' inside her told her now was the time.
With her heart racin', she grabbed the test and followed the instructions. As she waited for the result, she tried to keep her mind from goin' a million different directions. Was she ready for another baby? What if it was negative? What if it was positive? Either way, she knew it would change everything.
A few minutes later, she picked up the test, her hands shakin' slightly.
The Result
Nicole stared at the result, her breath catchin' in her throat as she saw the outcome.
Nicole stared at the test, her heart poundin' in her chest. For a moment, she couldn't breathe, couldn't think. But then, as the result became clear, a wave of emotion crashed over her.
It was positive.
She was pregnant.
Nicole blinked, barely able to process the reality of it. After all the talk, the hope, the uncertainty—here it was, right in front of her. She was carryin' another baby.
For a moment, she just stood there, her mind spinnin'. She felt excitement, fear, love—all wrapped up in one. This was real. She was really pregnant again.
Tellin' Devin
After a few moments of collectin' herself, Nicole walked downstairs, the test still in her hand. Devin was sittin' on the couch, half-watchin' the game, unaware of the life-changin' news she was about to drop on him.
"Dev," she called out softly, her voice a little shaky.
Devin turned, seein' the look on her face, and immediately sat up. "What's goin' on, Nic? You okay?"
Nicole held up the test, her hand shakin' slightly. "I'm pregnant."
Devin's eyes widened, his face showin' a mix of shock and excitement. He jumped up from the couch, crossin' the room to her in a second. "Wait, for real? We havin' another baby?"
Nicole nodded, tears wellin' up in her eyes, a smile spreadin' across her face. "Yeah, Dev. We havin' another baby."
Devin pulled her into his arms, huggin' her tight, his heart racin' with excitement. "I can't believe it! We really doin' this again."
They stood there for a moment, holdin' each other, both overwhelmed with emotion. This was the moment they had been waitin' for—the moment that would change their lives all over again.
Feelin' Blessed
Later that night, as they lay in bed, Nicole rested her head on Devin's chest, still takin' in the news. They had done this before, but this time felt different. It felt more intentional, more full of hope and love.
"I can't wait to tell Amani," Devin said, his voice full of excitement. "She gon' lose her mind when she finds out she's gon' be a big sister."
Nicole smiled, her heart full of love for her family. "Yeah, she's gon' be so happy. I'm happy, Dev. This...this feels right."
Devin kissed the top of her head, holdin' her close. "We blessed, Nic. We really are."
And as they drifted off to sleep, the weight of the moment sinkin' in, Nicole knew that no matter what challenges came next, they were ready. Their family was growin', and they couldn't wait to embrace this next chapter together.
