Charlie walked into the locker room, feeling lighter than she has in days. The lingering tension from the bomb incident has started to ease and for the first time in a while, she was in a pretty good mood. She spotted Cristina and Meredith sitting by their lockers, mid-conversation, both looking decidedly less cheerful.
Cristina was fuming, arms crossed, while Meredith had a deep scowl on her face, glaring at nothing in particular.
Charlie joined their conversation, teasing them a little. "Okay, clearly I missed something. Why do you both look like someone killed your puppies?"
Cristina was grumbling, not looking up at Charlie. "Burke's mad at me."
"And my mother is a filthy whore.", Meredith added.
Charlie blinked, clearly caught off guard. "Wow. Right. So we're starting the day off with that kind of energy, huh?"
She dropped her bag onto the bench and looked back and forth between the two. Cristina let out an annoyed sigh, while Meredith just shook her head, still stewing.
"Alright, Cristina, you first. What did you do to piss off Burke this time?", Charlie asked.
"I didn't tell him that I kept my old apartment. And now he's acting like I've been lying to him for months.", she explained.
Charlie raised an eyebrow. "Well, did you?"
"That's not the point."
"It kind of sounds like the point.", Charlie said, smirking.
Cristina glared at her, but there was no heat behind it. Charlie held her hands up in mock surrender, turning her attention to Meredith instead.
"I don't want to talk about it and rounds are starting. Let's go.", Meredith said, before grabbing her stethoscope and marching toward the door.
Cristina and Charlie exchanged a quick glance, deciding not to push it, following Meredith out.

"Jake Burton, 15, has advanced craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, was admitted last night after complaining of headaches.", Cristina explained, presenting a patient.
Derek stepped closer. "Jake, can I get you to sit up? Now, I want you to look right here for me. Thank you."
As Derek continued examining him, Charlie analysed his face. Due to tumors growing all over his face, he looked - different.
"You know, if you pretend I'm a lion, it helps.", Jake said, when he noticed Charlie staring at him.
"Sorry?", she asked.
"If you pretend I'm a lion, instead of a really messed-up kid, you get a talking circus animal, which is way easier to look at.", he explained.
Charlie didn't say anything and instead gave him a small smile.
