Some time went by and Charlie's footsteps echoed down the hospital corridor, her mind simmering in anger. The night before, Meredith told her that Derek had basically called her a whore for sleeping with George and for dating his vet, Finn. Charlie hasn't gotten the chance to confront him about it yet, but now was the time. She knew that her brother could be reckless and prideful, but this was just cruel.

Charlie's hands clenched at her sides as she made her way to look for Derek. She'd always tried to stay neutral in order to let him make his own choices without interference. But this was Meredith - someone who'd done nothing but love him, even when he made it nearly impossible. And now he was punishing her for trying to pick up the pieces he'd left behind.

She felt her anger crystallise into resolve. Derek had no right to judge Meredith when he was the one who chose Addison. If he thought he could throw accusations like that without consequences, he was about to be set straight.

As Charlie approached a balcony overlooking the nurses' station, she spotted him leaning over the railing, lost in thought. For a moment, she hesitated, taking in her brother's familiar silhouette, But then she remembered Meredith's wounded expression and the way her voice had trembled when she repeated his words.

So, Derek needed to hear this, whether he was ready or not.

Charlie watched him for another moment before speaking up. „So, I heard you called Meredith a whore. Is that true?", she asked, giving him a stern look.

Derek tensed, exhaling sharply, not turning to face her. „Lola, I don't need a lecture right now."

„Well, I don't care, you're getting one. What were you thinking? Do you even hear yourself? You're upset because she's dating someone else, but you chose Addison. You have no right, Derek."

Derek finally turned to her, defensive. „It's not that simple. She just - moved on. Like it meant nothing."

Charlie scoffed. „Moved on? Derek, she's trying to survive. You broke her heart and she was still there, still respecting your choice to stay with Addison. Meredith didn't do anything wrong. If anyone's been stringing people along, it's you."

Derek's face softened for a moment, guilt flickering in his eyes, but he quickly shook it off. „You don't understand.", he said.

„No, I understand perfectly. I understand that you made a choice to be with Addison and now you're mad that Meredith isn't waiting around for you. You don't get to have it both ways, Derek. You don't get to keep her on a leash just because you can't handle your own decisions."

He looked away, struggling to find a response. Charlie's words stung because he knew there was truth in them.

„She's not the one who betrayed anyone here. That was you. So maybe stop blaming her for moving on and start dealing with letting her go.", Charlie said before walking away and leaving Derek standing alone, weighed down by his sister's words.
