Artemis in Borderland (Multiple Yandere's)

Ch.4

I wake up to my shoulder being shaken. Groggily I open my eyes and reach for a knife that's not there.

I see the man with the piercings grinning down at me with his gun over his shoulder. I jump up and roll to the other side of the bed as I glare at him and stand.

He chuckles at my quick movements." I knocked but you didn't answer." he says as he walks around the room looking around as if all the rooms don't look the same.

"Hatter wants us to eat like one big happy family, he wants to see what cards you've collected." He speaks and I stare at him as I walk to my dresser, I open the first drawer that has the outfit I play games in, I reach under the clothes and grab a stack of cards, I tuck it into my back pocket and turn to the man to see he was watching me.

"Niragi." He says as he moves to sit on my bed resting his gun on the bed next to him." And you are?"

"Artemis." I whisper loud enough he can hear.

He hums, as he eyes me up and down his eyes tracing visible scars.

"I want to ask questions but, Hatter will probably ask during dinner, lets go." He says standing up and lifting his gun, resting it back on his shoulder.

He walks out and I follow him, the elevator ride was silent, we get to the meeting room to see all the chairs are full, except for two.

I stay at the entrance as everyone turns to stare at me, Niragi walks around me and takes a seat. The last chair open was next to Chishiya.

"Please, sit." Hatter says gesturing to the chair. I hesitate, but make my way to the chair. My eyes meet Chishiya's and he sends me a calming smile.

I sit down and look at the plate in front of me.

"Rabbit, with mashed potatoes, green beans, and carrots." Hatter speaks up." Please eat." He says as he notices I'm just looking." Are you allergic?" He asks and I shake my head and pick up my fork and start poking at the food.

Hatter chuckles." It's not poisoned." I sigh and cut off a piece of rabbit and put it in my mouth, I slowly chew and look up at him to see he finally goes back to his own food.

"I have questions for you." Hatter speaks up as I move the food on my plate around before placing a carrot in my mouth.

"How long have you been here, in borderland?" Hatter asks and I shrug.

"Four months." I speak, he hums.

"Cards?" He asks. I pull them out of my back pocket and one of the men standing along the wall walks over and takes them from me and walks over to Hatter.

Hatter smiles wide looking at my cards." 2 of Hearts, 3 of Heart, 6 of Heart, 4 of Clubs, 9 of Clubs, 10 of Spades, 7 of Diamonds, you have some great cards in here." He snaps and two people move and open up a wall, I glance at it to see that he spray-panted every card onto the wall, the majority of them already crossed off." How old are you Artemis? You look young, considering you mentioned you came to Japan for school..." He trails off.

"I'm 19." I tell him and all the scraping of cutlery stops for a second as people look to me.

"Wow! You're practically a baby!" Hatter shouts."Tell me, how does someone as young as you survive in a world like this all alone?"

I drop my cutlery and my hands turn into fists as I stare at my barely-eaten plate.

"You just do it." I mutter as I look at him with a blank face. He notices my demeanor change and nods.

"Eat." He announces and everyone goes back to eating silently as I glance at the wall and then back at my food.

Everyone was almost done eating when Chishiya leaned over." You need to eat, you won't heal fast if you don't." He tells me and I sigh.

I pick my fork back up and take a bite of the mashed potatoes. I take another bite then another, then my stomach starts to hurt and I drop my fork.

People start to clear the room as they finish as some stay and quietly chat with each other, most of the executives leave, and I look around to see Chishiya, Niragi, An, and the guy with the Tattoos stuck around.

"You need to eat more." An says getting up and sitting across from me and I frown, men in bathing suits walk around the table and clean up.

An stares at me as I actively avoid everyone's eyes.

"Artemis." I ignore her as I push my chair back only for it to get stopped, I look behind me to see Niragi looking at me blankly, pinning my chair in place.

He sits next to my plate before cutting off a piece of rabbit and holding it to my lips, I turn my head away with a glare.

"Eat this bite or I'll shove all of what's on this plate down your throat." Niragi threatens and I turn my glare to him only to drop it when I see he's glaring back. With a long sigh, I take the bite into my mouth and slowly chew only to frown when Niragi cuts off another piece for me. "One more since you were being difficult." He says and I take the last bite, he drops the fork and I sit back in my chair.

"Good enough, I guess. You need to start taking better care of yourself if you want to heal. Maybe we should have someone sit down with you during meal times." An says gazing at me with her resting bitch face and I frown and look away. I push my chair out with a huff and stand up.

"I don't need you to worry about me, I've survived just fine on my own." I spit at her and her face darkens and I walk around the table and head to the door.

"Survived. You've survived just fine on your own but have you lived?" She asks and I freeze at the door.

I shake my head and swing the door open, I slam it behind me her words hitting a sore spot. She's right even before Borderland, I had never really lived, I kept busy sure, did what my dad wanted, learned to fight because he wanted me to, I did ballet and gymnastics because he wanted me to, softball and track, but I was never happy, I was vying for attention and praise from a man that saw me as a doll to play with not a daughter to love.

It's why I moved to Japan, I wanted to get as far away from him as I could, so I went somewhere he wouldn't think to look.

I walk into my room and collapse down onto my bed with a sigh, I nervously eye the door and pout knowing I won't be sleeping well if at all tonight, I really miss my knives.
