Ch. 21

Artemis pov

I walked around slowly as my energy was still depleted. I feel eyes on me to see a man sitting on the floor next to another with an emo haircut hiding his face. I eye them as the one who sits on the floor stares at me. I hold his stare for a little while until he gives me a grin, with a sigh I make my way slowly down the stairs. I go to the food supplies and grab a bottle of water and cookies.

The sugar will help boost my energy after losing so much blood.

I sit down at the table and shakily open the water, I take slow sips and then try to open the cookies. I struggle to do so, my arms feeling weak from the blood loss, I sigh and slam them down on the table.

A hand reaches over and picks it up and opens it for me, I look over to see the man in the suit, he holds the package out to me but I don't take it, he sighs and sits down next to me, straddling the seat he faces me. He takes out a small cookie and holds it to my lips.

"You need to eat or you'll pass out." He tells me and I open my mouth. He places it in and I slowly chew.

I reach out for my water as I slowly chew and he moves the hair at the back of my neck away." You're a club." He says and I face him with a frown and he holds out another cookie to me. I open my mouth once more for him to place it in my mouth and I slowly chew it and reach for my water. The man gets to it first, he opens it and holds it to my lips.

I glare at him as I reach for the bottle but he glares down at me and holds it out of reach.

"Let me." He tells me and once more brings it to my lips, I make a note to keep an eye on this guy.

He carefully feeds me water and cookies until I finish it and Im not shaking as badly as I once was.

I get up and leave him before he can say anything else and I go upstairs to Chishiya. He smiles when he sees me and looks at my collar." Club." He tells me and I frown.

Once again, the man in the suit didn't lie to me, why is he helping me? I push Chishiya to turn and look at his, I tell him his sign and then ask him a question.

"What have you picked up about the man in the suit?" I whisper to him, standing close to him and he hums as he stares down at me.

"He likes control, he's manipulating the woman he came with to win the game, but he'll probably ditch her by the end, why?" Chishiya asks and I sigh as I reach up and play with his zipper.

"He told me my symbol twice now, without asking what his was, both times you confirmed he didn't lie." I tell him and he frows as he looks around and glares.

With a sigh, he unzips his jacket to show he is wearing a black shirt underneath. He helps me into his jacket and smiles down at me as it sits big on me.

"Be careful, I don't trust him, and stay away from the man who hangs out with the emo guy." Chishiya says and I frown up at him now clinging to his shirt.

"Why?" I ask and he holds my waist making butterflies fill my belly." His name is Banda and he is a murderer." The announcer told us to go to our cells, once round three started I noticed that someone had died.

It was the man whose lighter I stole, go figure.

Chishiya sat at a table eating crackers as I laid along the bench using his thighs as a pillow, he played with my hair until I fell asleep taking a quick nap.

He woke me up and we told each other our symbols before the announcer spoke up.

Round four started and I looked at the screen to see someone else died.

I looked around and spied on the people I made a mental note of who I thought could be the Jack of Heart and spy the emo man holding the same cookies as the last two rounds just a different color, this packaging was black. With a frown, I move to the cafeteria and look at the cookie selection noticing that type of cookie had four different packaging.

I hum as I think back to the man in the suit, the woman who follows him around also eats this type of cookie, each round so far her and the emo guy have eaten this type of cookie.

I decide to keep a closer eye on those two.

The next round starts and I follow the emo man around at a far distance, he once again goes to the same cookies and grabs one in red packaging. I see him walk past the woman and man in the suit, she looks at his packaging then whispers to the man in the suit and walks to the cafeteria, I watch her as she walks past the corner I was hiding behind and picks up a package of cookies.

Gotcha.

She walks back to the man in the suit and holds the package until the emo man walks by and she flashes him the package, he nods as he walks by and I walk away and over to Chishiya.

He welcomes me with open arms and I lean into him. After a while, I get up and go to the bathroom after finishing I walk out of the stall only to flinch when I see the man in the suit leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets.

I walk over to the sink slowly as he watches me.

He walks over and stands behind me." Spade." He says, and I reach for paper towels.

"Why are you helping me?" I ask him and he shrugs.

"You're not the Jack of Hearts." He says confidently.

"How do you know?" I ask and he shrugs once more.

"I just do." He goes to walk out and I stop him.

"Hey." I call out and he turns to me as I look around making sure we're alone. He narrows his eyes and walks closer. I look up at him," The woman you're with, she's playing you. " I tell him and he tilts his head with a frown.

I sigh and cross my arms." She's working with that emo guy, every round they both get the same snack, if you watch closely enough you'll see that they're using that to communicate what symbols they have." he looks away as if to think then nods. He turns around and I grab his arm and move his hair out of the way." You're a spade." I tell him." Be careful." I tell him as I walk around him.

"Yaba." He calls out and I smile.

"Im Artemis." I tell him and he hums.

Round after Round people started dying faster and faster.

Chishiya was sat in the cafeteria straddling the bench as I sat between his legs, my back laid onto his chest. He ate crackers and would feed me one now and again.

I sighed into his body feeling tired and he wrapped his arm around my stomach rubbing it making my body warm.

"Is Kuina still alive?" I ask him and he pauses his eating.

"Why ask now? " He asks and I hug his arm to me closer.

"I was scared of the answer, I still am." I tell him and he hums and kisses my temple.

"The last time I saw her was when An came in a car, Arisu, Usagi and Kuina got in and they drove away. " Chishiya says and I smile.

"An is alive too." I say and he rubs my side making goosebumps arise.

"Yes, as far as I last seen." He tells me.

"I miss The Beach, I miss us all being together, and having fun." I tell him and he pulls me closer to him, tossing his wrapper away he wraps his other arm around me.

"I miss it too,  princess." He says and the announcer speaks up telling us to go to Solitary Confinement.
