NERISSA

He never hated me. I am his mate, or at the very least he hates me and I am also his mate? I have no idea, this is all a confusing jumbling mess in me head. I am losing my mind right now. My eyes are extremely sore as I sit there trying to process, hearing arguing take place as I sit in silence.

    I can't believe I am the long-lost princess.

My entire life is a lie.

I am not a risen angel. I am a demigod princess, a godling, who has powers she was never told she has. It all makes perfect sense. My perfect and strong ability to swim. My ability to calm down any creature within nature. When I made that tree burst into flames... My ability to fly unlike most of the other angels. I always knew something was missing. I forced myself not to think about it, to forget about all of the things I knew made me different.

    Powers.

"Do I have a lot of powers?" I stare up at him as the question forces itself out of my mouth. "What are they?"

"To be determined." Phanes shrugs. "I created you but even I don't know all that I create. I can create people and beings but I can not create souls. That is still a mystery to me...I'm really glad I did not make you. Let's try asking the parents who didn't want you."

"I don't understand, why did you not tell me this? I thought I was broken."

"I never felt the need to teach you because I didn't think you would ever betray me like you did these past seven days. But you did." He says simply. "I was going to tell you all of this. Eventually, probably farther in the future when I knew I could trust you to be on my side. But it took seven days, Nerissa, seven days for you to betray me, I mean, come on."

"I did not!" I shoot to my feet. "I praised and idolized you and you did this to me. You broke me entirely! You took me from my family! You took away my years of finding love!"

    I sob frantically.

"Were you even aware of the fine print?" He asks me.

"What?" I think back to the inky contract I have ever signed. "What fine print?"

He laughs. "Gods, Calytrix is smart. Extremely. Well considering the only one to ever hold the maps was your boy toy over here, he always had a plan to escape and leave you after dropping you off to me. He doesn't love you. No one can love you. This is extremely embarrassing for you."

I look towards Knoxx. "Did you know about any of this?"

He shakes his head. "Of course not." He looks just as shocked.

"The rules are only one would escape Calytrix's rule and live a happy, normal life in Lani. You thought that only applies to you. However, Grump, as you call him over here, figured out Gehena isn't meant for him. He can go, if he wants to sacrifice you."

I look to Anakin and back to Phanes. "No, he wouldn't do that to me. You...you can't do that to me."

Phanes grins. "Silly girl, you trusted in the wrong people and now you're going to reap the consequences."

    I feel my heart break.

    "Anakin, please," I beg.

His next words stop what little of my heart is left.
