Levi's POV
Never had I thought that the girl I had saved from the ocean a little over three years ago would play such a significant role in my life years later. I sat on my couch watching Dakota as she stood in front of her easel, painting an image she wouldn't reveal to me. She was swinging her hips to the steady beat of the music that played in my flat, oblivious to the world around her. The only sound was the quiet humming of our AC and strokes of her paintbrush against the canvas. Her red hair had grown longer over the years, hanging down her back in rowdy waves, only her fringe clipped back to the side. It allowed me to see her sparkling green eyes, free of glasses, as they flitted across her work.
I had to smile. After that dreadful afternoon on the beach, any doubts I had about a possible future with her disappeared with the wind. She had willingly put her life on the line to save that of my family - that was the biggest sacrifice anyone had ever made for me, and made the mere thought of loosing her an impossibly painful one.
Dakota's parents had failed to fulfil their parental obligations, neglecting their only child to the point of no return, and because of such Dakota had no trouble agreeing to my suggestion of her moving on with me. She had taken no time to feel at home in my flat, discreetly spreading her belongings all over the place - and I loved it. It was wonderful to come home to her singing behind her easel or making a mess in the kitchen when she attempted to bake something. We had shared many fun evenings on the couch, watching movies and more than once falling asleep wrapped in each others arms.
She had begun studying at the same college I attended, both of us maintaining our life guard duties as a part time job. She had taken one year off after her school finished before enrolling her courses at the nicely located university of the nearby city.
In the last three years not much had changed between Dakota and I other than the fact that we grew even closer. Sure we had our fights but they ended fairly quickly when one of us had something important to tell the other, usually ending with an ice cream binging session on the balcony as we watched the waves.
"You okay?" She asked taking her earphones out and setting her paintbrush down. I shook my head slightly to clear my thoughts and smiled at her.
"Yeah, just been thinking about the last couple of years"
She smiled back, her sunny smile that had brightened so many of my days.
"Are you hungry? I'm starved" she said, wiping her hands on her apron making her way to the kitchen as her stomach grumbling in time.
I laughed slightly as I got up and set aside my book, pulling her close and pressing a swift kiss to her lips.
"You're not cooking. I don't trust you in there" I said laughing again as I saw her disgruntled face.
"I can make toast" she grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest. For a second I thought she might stomp her foot as well but she resorted to sticking out her tongue at me.
"You make a killer toast that's true but I'm too hungry for toast." I sidestepped the foot she had stuck out to trip me and made my to the kitchen.
"Bully!" she called at me from the living room.
"You love me" I called back, pausing to wait for her answer.
I heard her grumble slightly before muttering, "I do"

That's the end wattpadonians :) I'm sorry for cutting this story so short towards the end but I felt like it had to be. <3
Thank you for following Dakota and Levi on their journey, each time one of you clicked on my book to read it it made me smile and encouraged me to keep going. Please bear in mind that I was fifteen when I began writing this story and only turned sixteen a couple of days ago - so I still have a long way to go in terms of writing :)
In case any of you are interested, I've started a new book called "Exile 5782", and you can find it on my profile or through the link below :)
