Dakota’s POV

I stood in front of the mirror, balancing on one foot and scoffed at my pathetic reflection. My nose was red and my eyes were puffy and my ankle felt like it was being run over by a truck- repeatedly. That damn hospital. I couldn’t go back there, whatever doctor Levi had in mind would have to com by quickly thought because my foot was starting to look like a water balloon.

“Um Levi?” i called out feebly. I felt weak and annoyingly useless as i rested my hips against the cold marble counter. When he pushed open the door he was about to put his arm around my waist when i put my hand on his chest and stopped him.
“Thank you for coming and getting me out of the shower. It could have ended badly. So thank you for that and for listening” i said my eyes trained on the white tiles of my bathroom.

“No need to thank me. I’m just glad that i came in time” he said. I nodded my head and he slipped his arm around my midriff causing my heart beat to trembled slightly when i felt his arms flex. He helped me hop out of the bathroom and back towards my bed. When i was on the mattress again I pulled my hair into a bun again and looked at Levi.

He still seemed shocked at what i had told him, and i couldn’t blame him. If someone had told me all that i would have probably been running for the hills. Not Levi- at least not yet i thought grimly. I was afraid that one day he would realise that i was too much of a mess to handle and that he’d walk out the door.

But for now i would cherish the time i had with him. He gently took hold of my knee and ran his fingers down my leg until he reached my ankle.

I hissed slightly when his finger tips gently ran over the the area where it hurt the most.

He frowned, his eyebrows creasing together and that cute wrinkle on the big of his nose appearing.

“This is definitely a fracture Dakota” he said looking up at me.

I ran my hands across my face and rubbed my stinging eyes.

“Can we call the doctor you were talking about?” i asked

He nodded his head, swiped out his phone and clicked a few buttons before he held the phone to his ear and waited.

After a short conversation with the person on the line he set the phone down and looked at me.

In the quiet of the room, I was suddenly very aware that Levi was still shirtless, his hair in a perfectly mussed up state as if he had run his hands through it one too many times and his honey coloured eyes focus on me. I felt heat rise to my cheeks and i fiddled with the blanket on my bed.

“Thank you for telling me, about everything. It isn’t any of my business but it explains a lot of things. Honestly that night when i caught you on the beach went through my mind more than once.” He said, still intently peering at me.

I pushed a curl behind my ear and nodded my head gently. “You deserved to know. A lot earlier actually. It’s just that I'm not used to talking about it. Non of my friends know anything about the incident except that something happened to my brother and he had to move. No newspaper articles were published- nothing, thanks to my parents.” i sighed lying back down on the bed.

The bed dipped beside me and Levi pulled me closer to his side.

We lapsed into a comfortable silence and eventually he began humming a quiet tune of song I didn’t know. I closed my eyes and matched my breathing to his. After twenty minutes the sound of our shrill doorbell echoed through the still empty house and Levi stood up. He pressed a quick kiss to my forehead and left my room to get the doctor.
