Dakota’s POV
I sat nervously in Levi's car, straightening out the non existent wrinkles in my light blue summer dress. Soft music was playing and Levi was humming along, looking completely at ease his Ray bans resting perfectly against his nose. The braids which Tess has worked into my hair held the crazy curls out of my eyes yet I itched to run my fingers through it- something i did when I was nervous. I watched the scenery pass us by and admired the well trimmed gardens and beautiful parks as the highway wound through small towns and past large forest strips. Eventually Levi turned to look at me and smiled.
"Ready? They're a pretty crazy bunch, don't be intimidated by their level of noise- yelling comes naturally to all of us" he said smile cheekily.
I almost tugged out the seam of my dress at his words my eyes widening.
He chuckled softly taking my hand in his, he laced our fingers together running his thumb over my knuckles.
"There's no need to be scared or nervous. We might be tall and loud but they'll all love you the second you step through that door, I promise. And if it's too much for you then tell me and we can leave right away" he said pushing his sunglasses up to properly look at me.
I took a deep breath and nodded at him, latching my free hand around the arm rest to distract myself.
Levi turned off the freeway and rolled down a small neat country road. On either side massive lavender fields ran across the gentle hills. I was in a stunned silence as I took in my surroundings. Where was he taking me?
"Uh Levi? Is there something you forgot to tell me?" I asked confused as he pulled up in front a a very large mansion. Not the snobby show-off kind but a beautiful country mansion with clean white walls and neat green shutters on each of the many windows facing the driveway. Levi cut the engine and released my hand pushing his sunglasses onto the top of his shirt.
"My family is wealthy, very wealthy" he said giving me a calculating look, waiting for my response.
My eyebrows creased momentarily at the new piece of information he gave me until I realised that it really didn't make a difference. I would always see Levi as the friendly, loving lifeguard, with his faded red pants and stunning eyes, no matter what his background was.
"Alright" I nodded at him, "let's get this party going" I said opening my door. I got out and slowly hobbled towards the massive house. I was allowed to walk without crutches now, but the cast was still on my foot.
Levi came around the car and pulled me close to his side in a friendly reassuring manner. He walked us up the huge oak door that severed as the entrance to the house. Levi rang the door and the resonating sound from inside the house was. Suddenly a crashing noise was heard followed by a very loud yell and running footsteps. When I looked at Levi he was giving me a look like yeah-that's-my-family. I smiled lightly at him enjoying being held in his arms.
"I got it!" A voice came closer to the door before finally it opened to reveal a girl who looked like an exact copy of Levi, just ten years younger. Her hazel eyes widened before a massive smile spread across her pink lips. She pulled the door open completely and threw herself at her brother.
"Levi bear!" She exclaimed burying her face in his shoulder as he picked her up and swung her around.
"Is that Levi bear at the door?!" Another voice called from somewhere inside the house.
"Boo!" Levi called back.
"LEVI!" The noise of an elephant stampede was heard storming down the steps.
The little girl in Levi's arm smiled brightly at him before pressing a kiss to his cheek and jumping out of his arms.
Behind the little girl two boys appeared. One, younger still than his sister, and the other around fifteen I'd guess. They both shared the same looks as Levi and the young girl except their eyes were a darker shade of brown. The younger one ran up to Levi and hugged his legs. He ruffled his hair and i only just managed to hold back an awe.
"Hey squirt" Levi said bending down to the small boys level to a press a kiss to his forehead.
When he straightened he looked at the teen in front of him.
"Hey man" he said holding out his hands. The boy grinned widely at him stretching out his hand as well and completed a complicated handshake which ended with both of them waggling their fingers at each other. I had moved to the left to make space for the family reunion and watched awestruck at how overjoyed Levi looked completely oblivious to his surroundings. Two more people appeared in the door and watched with amused faces at the spectacle in front of them.
"Look who the cat dragged in" the girl said. She looked my age and had the same brown hair as everyone else in the family so far but she had electric blue eyes.
Levi looked up and grinned at her.
"Good to see you again" he said stepping around his younger siblings to embrace her in a loving hug. When he stepped back he faced a guy who only looked a year younger than Levi, sharing the same looks as his sister.
"Same goes for you" he said hugging him as well.
"Who's that?" The young girl asked pointing at me, a cute lisp in her voice caused by her missing front teeth. Suddenly twelve eyes were on me and I felt the nerves kick in and the colour rise to my cheeks making clench the material of my poor dress in my fists.
"Dakota meet my family" Levi said smiling wider than I had ever seen on him, his face practically glowing with happiness.
"Uh... Hi" I said, tentatively smiling at them.
"This is -" "what's this talk about family with your parents aren't even there yet" a deep baritone rang through the air. I almost fainted when I saw a very tall man appear in the door, his broad frame towering over all of his children, including Levi. Beside him a beautiful woman appeared linking her arms with those of her husband.
"Hey sweetie, I haven't seen you in a long time" her clear voice matching her stunning figure and beautiful face.
"Sorry mum, I know I promised to come more often" Levi said sending her an apologetic smile. She stepped forward and hugged him, and although she was tall for a woman she barely reached his chin. When she released him his dad stepped forward and hugged him. It was a funny sight to see, Levi's large frame disappearing in the arms of his dad.
"Who's that?" The small girl asked again staring at me with doe like eyes her small index finger extended towards me.
This time sixteen eyes were gazing at me, my face turning even redder than the first time.
"This is my family" Levi corrected
Himself standing between his mother and father all his siblings in front of beside him.
"Guys this is Dakota" he said stepping forward to stand next to me.
"Hi Dakota" they all chorused, their curios faces adorned by breathtaking smiles.
"Hello" I replied proud that my voice didn't crack.
One by one they introduced themselves.
"I'm poppy" the youngest girl said waving at me.
"Mitch" the youngest boy said standing on his dad's feet.
"Theo" the teenage boy introduced himself.
"Ricky" the girl my age said sending me a friendly smile.
"Jace" the oldest of Levi's five younger siblings said.
"I'm Michael and this is Juliette." The father introduced himself.
"Oh honey what did you do to your foot?" Levi's beautiful mom Juliette asked me, her perfectly shaped eyerbows drawing into a concerned frown. Her motherly attentions made my heart swell as i looked down at the darn thing on my foot.
