••IN THE AFTERNOON••
Petey helps Jordan to walk as they make their way towards the woods.
Jordan huffs feeling exhausted already from all the limping.
Jordan: It has been thirty minutes already Petey, shouldn't we take a ride with Dylan instead?
Petey: You haven't walked in a while Kiddo so you need this exercise and besides we are nearly there just hang on.
Jordan sighs rolling his eyes.
Jordan: We should have taken the wheelchair along.
Petey: No, you need to exercise.
Jordan huffs continuing to walk with him.Jordan: Isn't this the path that leads to the cemetery anyway?
It goes silent and Jordan stops walking.
Jordan: Wait Petey...
He nudges Petey to look at him.
Jordan: What is the meaning of this? Does... Does this mean that my mother is-... No she didn't right?
Petey remains silent and Jordan huffs pulling away from his hold.
Jordan: No...
Petey: I'm sorry...
Jordan (Teary): No!...it can't be true, Mom was-
Petey: Miranda was way more wounded than you were and she lost a lot of blood. But she fought so hard though until she couldn't bear the pain anymore.
Jordan covers his mouth teary feeling like he is being stabbed in the gut continuously.
He chuckles shaking his head as tears flood his eyes and that smile eventually melts into a frown covering his face to cry.
Jordan: Why is all of this misfortune happening to me all at once am I cursed?
Petey: No of course not... It's just a way of life and we simply can't predict it.
Jordan: But why her, she is all that I had in this life why take her away from me?
Petey pulls him to his embrace and Jordan cries over his shoulder that Petey closes his eyes too and tightens his hold around Jordan like never before.
Why does he feel like he needed this embrace more than Jordan did?... Why?
He has never been so much of an expressive person, not even to his daughters but now it just feels like a need to comfort this lost boy on his arms and let him find comfort in him.Or is he perhaps trying to conceal the guilt that he is feeling for being the person that seems to be the cause of Jordan's misfortunes.
Petey: I am here for you, and I am not speaking as a boss right now but as a father.
Jordan nods wiping his eyes to put up a strong face.
Petey: Are you sure about continuing with our walk to her tombstone?... We can come back when you are ready.
Jordan nods.
Jordan: Yes I am sure I need to speak to her one last time.
Petey nods
Petey: Let's proceed then.
They continue to walk and Dylan follows behind them with the car.
••Dylan: You are starting to have a soft spot for this boy and I'm worried that you will give yourself away to him Boss.
They stand a bit further from Jordan as he kneels in front of his mother's tombstone talking in outmost whisper that they can't hear.
Petey: I am only concerned about him and it's only natural Dylan.
Dylan: That's the whole fucking problem Boss, being concerned, taking care of him and hugging him just when you don't even hug your daughters that live with you 24/7.... Boss should I be really worried right now?
Petey sighs and shakes his head.
Petey: Just because I am labelled as a tyrant doesn't mean that I am heartless Dylan. If I want my employees to serve me well and respect me then I should take a good care of them... Or do you perhaps think that I am doing too much for Jordan?
Dylan: I don't think that you are doing too much for this kid, you are actually doing so much for him!It goes silent and Petey turns to look back at Jordan.
Petey: I just can't help it he is so much like me you know. He reminds me a lot of myself, I feel connected to him and I understand him.
Dylan: Oh trust me I know that very well... But you need to tone it down to a notch. Not unless you are planning to tell him the truth.Dylan gives Petey a side eye.
Petey: No I can't do that... I won't have all the answers to his questions.
At least just not yet and as you can see he is slowly warming up on me so I cannot ruin that now after trying so hard for him to look my way and respect me.
Dylan: If you say so.... But the boy is growing older by the minute Boss, so you shouldn't take long to talk to him because before you know it he will be all grown up and heartless as you to even forgive your ass. He might even kill you.
Petey: I doubt that it would reach to that point. He will be angry yes but he won't kill me.Petey: And by the way he will soon be on the quest to search for his father, help him look for him okay?
Dylan raises his brow at Petey smirking.
Petey: You know what I mean, working something out and let him have a father.
Dylan chuckles shaking his head.
Dylan: Sure boss, anything for you.
