Y/N's POV
Watching Pansy flutter around Draco all day had felt like swallowing nails. The way she fawned over him, dabbing at his bandaged arm and cooing with exaggerated sympathy, was enough to make my stomach twist. It wasn't that I cared who Draco chose to spend his time with—I reminded myself of that repeatedly—but something about the scene made me feel unsettled.
So, when Oliver Wood came over, flashing me one of his winning smiles, I barely hesitated when he invited me to Hogsmeade. I could use the distraction, and besides, Oliver was kind, charming, and actually treated me well.
That evening, we wandered through the cobbled streets of Hogsmeade, laughing over butterbeers at the Three Broomsticks and browsing Honeydukes. With Oliver, everything was easy, lighthearted. I could almost forget the mess that was my relationship with Draco. Almost.
As we left Honeydukes, Oliver slung an arm around my shoulder, pulling me close in a friendly gesture as he teased me about my choice in sweets. I laughed, playfully swatting him away, but my laughter faltered when I caught sight of a familiar figure across the street. Draco stood in front of Zonko's Joke Shop, watching me with a dark, intense look that sent a shiver down my spine.
His gaze locked on mine for a brief moment before he turned away abruptly, disappearing into the crowd. A part of me felt a thrill at his reaction, but I quickly pushed it aside. After all, he had Pansy—why should he care?
Draco's POV
I couldn't stop seeing her with him, laughing, leaning in close as if he had her all to himself. Every laugh she gave Oliver, every easy smile she tossed his way, was like salt in a wound I didn't want to admit was there.
Y/N was with Oliver Wood, of all people. Watching her laugh, look so free and happy—it made me feel something I couldn't quite name, something that gnawed at me. I tried to brush it off, but her laughter echoed in my mind long after I'd left Hogsmeade and made my way back to the castle.
That night, as I wandered the dim hallways, hoping the brisk air might cool the frustration simmering beneath my skin, I found myself heading up to the Astronomy Tower. A habit, perhaps, but one I didn't care to explain. The crisp night air bit at my skin as I leaned against the cold stone railing, staring out at the endless expanse of stars.
Footsteps echoed up the staircase, light but unmistakable. She stepped out into the moonlight, her eyes widening slightly when she saw me.
"Draco," she said, her voice cautious, like she'd been caught somewhere she didn't belong.
I straightened, unable to keep the edge out of my voice. "Enjoy your evening, did you?"
Her brow arched, and a smirk tugged at her lips. "Why? Jealous?"
The question sparked something inside me. I took a step forward, narrowing the distance between us. "I don't play games, Y/N. If you're going to parade around with Wood, trying to get under my skin—"
"Oh?" she cut me off, feigning innocence. "I didn't think you cared who I spent my time with. I mean, you looked perfectly content with Pansy fawning all over you."
She tilted her head, giving me a mischievous smile that made my blood boil. I clenched my jaw, resisting the urge to reach out and close the distance between us. "Maybe if you weren't so... difficult, you wouldn't need to resort to playing these games to get my attention."
Her eyes sparkled with a challenge as she took a step closer, crossing her arms with a smirk that drove me mad. "You're the one standing here, Draco. It's not my fault you can't handle it when I have a bit of fun."
"You call that fun?" I snapped, the words slipping out before I could stop them. "Don't you get it, Y/N? You have no idea what you're doing to me."
Her gaze softened just slightly, and I saw a flicker of something—maybe surprise—before she schooled her expression into that same teasing smile. "And what exactly am I doing to you, Draco?" Her voice was lower now, softer, as if daring me to say it out loud.
My control snapped. I closed the distance between us in one stride, my hand curling around her wrist, firm but not harsh. Her eyes widened slightly, but she didn't pull away.
"Stop looking at me like that," I murmured, the intensity in my own voice catching me off guard. "Stop... making me feel this way."
She leaned closer, the mischievous glint back in her eyes as she tilted her head up, our faces barely inches apart. "Or what, Draco?"
Her lips were so close, her breath warm against my skin. And in that moment, I couldn't hold back any longer. My hand slipped to the nape of her neck, pulling her closer as our lips crashed together.
The kiss was fierce, full of the tension we'd kept bottled up, all the anger, the jealousy, the desire. Her fingers tangled in my hair, pulling me closer, and my hands slid down her back, pressing her against me. I could feel her heartbeat against my chest, fast and unsteady, matching my own.
She let out a small gasp, but didn't pull away—instead, she pressed into me, matching my intensity with a fire of her own. My hands slid to her waist, tightening around her, and her lips parted under mine, igniting something deeper, something that blurred the lines between us even further.
We broke apart briefly, breathless, our foreheads touching as we tried to catch our breath. Her eyes were wide, a mixture of surprise and desire, but there was something raw and unguarded in them that made my pulse quicken.
"Draco..." she whispered, her voice a hesitant plea, and it was all I needed to hear. I leaned down, capturing her lips again, slower this time, letting the moment sink in. She was intoxicating, making me lose all sense of control, of reason.
With each kiss, every touch, the distance between us faded, leaving only the fire that had been building between us for so long. For the first time, there were no walls, no games—just the two of us, giving in to the pull we could no longer deny.
