Y/N's POV

We were halfway back to Hogwarts, a weight lifted as we walked with Peter Pettigrew tied and stumbling between us. We were so close to finally clearing Sirius's name. I clung to that hope, feeling a warmth I hadn't known since my parents were alive.

Then something made me glance up at the sky, and a cold dread washed over me.

The moon, nearly full, crested above the trees. The light of it flickered on Remus's face, and I froze, my breath catching.

"It's a full moon," I whispered, eyes wide with terror. "Remus, it's a full moon..."

A terrible realization dawned across Remus's face, his eyes darting to the moon. And then, he doubled over, clutching his chest, and I knew.

"No," I whispered, stepping back in fear.

Sirius's POV

A sinking feeling took over as I saw Remus begin to change. This was the risk he took to come here tonight, to help me prove my innocence—and now it was coming back to haunt him. His body twisted in agony as the transformation began.

"Run!" I shouted at Harry and Y/N, forcing myself between them and the monster Remus was becoming.

There was no time to think or plan. In the chaos, I felt Pettigrew's ropes loosen, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw his wiry figure contorting back into his rat form. A smug grin flickered over his face just before he scurried off into the shadows.

"Pettigrew!" I yelled, feeling a spike of anger, but there was no time to go after him. Remus had fully transformed, and he was locked on us, his primal eyes filled with hunger. I couldn't risk letting him go after the kids.

My form shifted, bones reshaping as I transformed into the black dog, snarling to draw Remus's attention. I charged at him, teeth bared.

Harry's POV

Sirius yelled for us to run, but I felt paralyzed watching Remus turn. The man who'd taught us, who'd shown us so much kindness, was now almost unrecognizable. His body twisted and jerked until the transformation was complete—a towering, snarling werewolf, his eyes wild and unfocused.

But that wasn't the worst part. I saw Pettigrew scurrying away, vanishing into the darkness. I grabbed Y/N's hand, and we stood there, helpless. If we lost Pettigrew, we lost our chance to prove Sirius's innocence. And yet, I knew we had to go.

"Harry, come on!" Y/N's voice snapped me back to the moment, her grip pulling me out of my daze. "We have to move!"

With Remus now a full werewolf, the only thing we could do was run.

Y/N's POV

I stumbled, my legs barely able to keep pace as Sirius, in his dog form, kept Remus away from us. Guilt weighed on me as we raced away—Remus had taken care of me since I was small. And now, because of this curse, he was trapped in a nightmare. We had to help him somehow, to keep him safe. But with Pettigrew gone, our hopes of justice for Sirius were slipping through our fingers.

Suddenly, a familiar chorus of raspy breaths filled the night. My heart dropped as we looked around, only to see them floating toward us—Dementors. Their cloaked forms slid through the trees, and I felt my skin go cold, my body locking up as they neared.

Harry struggled beside me, his wand clutched tightly in his hand as he tried to stay on his feet, but he was barely holding on. I reached for my wand, trying to summon my happiest memories, anything to fight them back. But my mind felt empty, clouded by fear.

Then, as if from nowhere, a burst of light broke through the darkness. A silver stag leapt forward, scattering the Dementors, driving them back into the shadows. The cold receded, and warmth filled the air as the Patronus chased away the last of them.

Sirius's POV

The bright silver stag sent the Dementors reeling back, a warmth I hadn't felt in years. Even through the haze, I knew it was Harry's Patronus. I felt a surge of pride, watching my godson cast such a powerful charm.

But the moment of relief faded as the Ministry wizards finally caught up to us. Two of them seized me by the arms, dragging me upright, even as I struggled against their grip.

"Take him away," one of them ordered, and I felt the last shreds of hope slipping away. Harry and Y/N were shouting, trying to defend me, but their words fell on deaf ears. The Ministry had already made up their mind.

I looked at Harry, meeting his gaze, trying to convey what words couldn't. "Thank you," I managed, voice hoarse. I didn't have it in me to say goodbye. Not like this.

Harry's POV

"No!" I yelled, trying to get to him, but one of the wizards held me back. "You have to believe us! It was Pettigrew, not Sirius!"

They didn't listen. They dismissed our protests like they were nothing, dragging Sirius back toward the castle to face a punishment he didn't deserve. And there was nothing we could do to stop it.

As they pulled Sirius away, Y/N and I stood there, helpless. It felt wrong, unjust. I couldn't let this be the end.

We looked at each other, and I saw the same determination in her eyes.

"We're not letting this end here," she whispered, voice filled with resolve.

I nodded, feeling a fire ignite within me. We couldn't let Sirius face this fate alone. There had to be a way to save him.
