A Warning

Logan was having so much fun at the arcade. They had won so many tickets, and he was sure they would all be able to get a decent prize.
He heard the bell jingle as more people came in. He looked over and—

Oh.

Logan felt himself freeze as he saw Barron. Barron, oh god. He bit his lip, biting back a gulp and the panic as it rose up in his throat. Why was he here? This wasn't the one he usually went to—and Logan would know. He had been beaten in the back alley of it many times, his stuff usually ending up in the dumpster after it, and on really bad days, cigarettes put out on his skin.
Logan shuddered at the memory, subconsciously grasping at his arms, rubbing the scars still there as they tingled at the memory.

Thankfully, Tyler's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. "Great, what's he doing here?" Tyler snapped.

Logan looked to him, a bit embarrassed that he drew attention to the situation, but thankful for the distraction. At the sight of them, Aiden sprung up and covered Ben's eyes, the look on Ben's face downright murderous as he glared at Barron. Logan was glad he wasn't on the receiving end of it. Ben was like a big old teddy bear to Logan, lovable and gave the best hugs in a stressful situation. Seeing him this angry....kind of scared Logan.

Not that he was scared of Ben, no. He would never be scared of the boy. It was jarring how fast he changed though.

Taylor grunted in disgust as she saw Barron. "What's he doing here?"

"I don't know..." Logan mumbled. "This isn't true one he regulars."

"You know which one he regulars?" Aiden asked.

Logan gently clutched his sleeve, his silent answer. Aiden went quiet. Then, Logan saw it. A boy, probably around his age. Blue cap, tan skin, brown locks. He had seen him around school with Barron before and...oh

The world around him went quiet as he realized what he suspected. Yeah. Barron just replaced him.
And honestly? Logan didn't know what to feel about it. Relief? That was a guilty feeling he had. Good. Let someone else deal with the pain. But...

That kid had no idea what he was getting into..

"Logan?"

Logan was snapped out of his thoughts by Ashlyn. "Ah, yes?"

"Come on. We're leaving." Ashlyn said, grabbing his hand to leave. Logan paused, gently pulling his hand away.
"...no."

Ashlyn paused, looking her brother up and down. "No?"

The others stopped too, looking over at Logan curiously. Logan gulped. God all eyes on him again? He pointed to the kid in the blue hat.
"I..i don't think he's apart of their group."

"So? How is that our problem?" Ashlyn asked.

Logan gulped. "I...want to warn him. That..that's barrons tatic. He acts like your friend to avoid beating you longer. It's how he doesn't get caught.."

"You want to warn him?" Tyler asked.

Logan nodded, timid.

"We'll do what you need to do."

Logan paused. What?

Tyler gave him a half smile, brown eyes meeting Logan's blue. "We'll be here if you need us, alright? We've got your backs."

Logan smiled, feeling heat rush to his cheeks. He was a bit...overwhelmed. By all of their kindness. Something that his so called friends before never gave him.

"...thanks."
