loser!!-mckenna grace
'what a waste, what a loser'
as always, the second the bell rang maybe 15 students tried pushing themselves out the door at the same time, lynn included. zaria saw no point in trying to get out first if she got a broken arm and a twisted ankle doing so.
she saw nick leaning against the wall down the hall. the sun shone on his golden blonde hair through the glass exit behind him. she smiled slightly to herself, speeding up her walk the closer she got.
the walk to zaria had to walk everyday in order to get to her house was one of her least favorite things. the pavement beneath her always looked the same. gray and boring.
she liked the times nick walked with her even tho he actually could take the bus. today he did just that and it didn't take long before they started talking about a certain athlete.
"i hate her! why can't she just mind her own business?" nick chuckled at her annoyance.
"just ignore her" he put his arm around her shoulder and she sighed. "i wish it was that easy"
zaria's phone ringing interrupted them. on the screen read the name 'jemma'. her heart skipped a beat. she hated talking on the phone.
"hello?" zaria furrowed her brows in confusion. it was a rare occasion that someone called her. "where are you?" jemma ignored her greeting, jumping straight to the point. "on my way home"
"home? we have practise" her heart dropped.
"fuck" she muttered. nick had now stopped and was watching her mentally freak out.
guessing he heard jemma on the phone as all he said was; "just go"
lucky for her they hadn't gotten to far so she didn't have to run to far. the few people that still was in the school building eyed her as she ran past them on her way to the locker room.
she opened the door into the empty room and swung her bag off her shoulder and pulled out the shorts and shirt she forgot she put there this morning.
her breath was still higher than she'd like to admit as she jogged towards the field. there goes her good first impression she thought to herself.
"zaria, hey! forgot about practice?" coach watson greeted her once she got close enough. "uh yeah" she chuckled to hide the embarrassment. she was going to admit she was surprised she wasn't mad. "it happens to the best of us, just try not to do it again, yeah?"
instead of a reply she just nodded, her eyes burning holes in the ground. zaria saw her search the field for a group for her to join, hoping and praying she wouldn't say lynn's group.
"you can join jemma over there" she pointed to the left. she didn't even get to sigh relieved before seeing the two others she was with. one being rebecca which wasn't too bad. the other one being lynn.
she nodded politely to coach watson, not wanting her to know about her hatred for her teammate.
rebecca was the one who noticed her first, waving at her as she came closer. this caused the two others to turn in her direction as well.
lynn of course put on that grin zaria hated so much when she saw her. instead of sending her a look, she ignored her and to her surprise lynn let her be. she loved when she shut her mouth so she didn't need to hear her annoying raspy voice.
right after practise ended an hour later rebecca and juliana came walking over to her. the 5 seconds she had to wait before they stopped in front of her felt like 500 decades.
"i'm having a small party next friday to celebrate my birthday and i was wondering if you wanted to come? it's nothing too big, just a few people" the curly haired one asked as juliana just smiled.
zaria really would've very much preferred to stay at home and do nothing, but this was the first invite she had gotten from someone else than the people usually stayed around in who knows how long.
and instead of telling the truth she replied; "yeah, i'd love to!"
A/N
i'll make them interact again soon i promise
so hypothetically how much aura would i lose if i only got invited to stuff because my friends were friends with a lot of other people and everyone else just felt bad if they invited them and not me??
i have no good explenation for why i haven't been writing anything the past week other than the insane amount of homework i have
life is really testing me rn
