'you get on my nerves, you're so fucking annoying'

zaria pushed through the crowd of people in the hall, trying to get to the locker room before soccer tryouts started. it was currently the fourth day back to school after summer break and it wasn't going great so far.

yesterday she had basketball tryouts and you could say it didn't exactly go her way. she wasn't really expecting anything as she knew she was on the weaker end of the people there, but obviously she still wanted a spot.

after walking through the gymnasium she swung the door into the locker room open, seeing it was filled with other girls, including her sister zia. automatically she walked over to her, placing her bag next to hers.

"does my hair look good?" zia asked, doing a 360 of her ponytail. no baby hairs sticking out, no uneven bumps, her middle part showing perfectly where to divide the left and right side of her face. nothing new really. "of course it does" zaria smiled back, swallowing the jealousy she wanted to let go of so bad.

not to long after, everyone else had left and she stood alone putting up her own ponytail. her headache disappeared as soon as she left the room, finally being able to breathe air that didnt smell like old socks.

the field was filled with girls who were already warming up. it was no surprise to anyone seeing lynn loud amongst them all. was there even any point for her to be there? everyone knew she was going to make the team even if she tried doing bad.

zaria felt her eye twitch just by the thought of her. she despised her and had ever since 4th grade when she always used to target her in dodgeball. her hatred only grew as they got older and she still couldn't mention one thing she liked about the girl.

zia always said it might be steered by jealousy, but zaria refused to belive that. she wouldn't be caught dead being jealous of lynn loud. unfortunately she was everwhere.

no matter what sport she wanted to try out for, lynn was there. well, except for cheer, but zaria fully belived she would do even worse there than she did in soccer.

her eyes scanned everywhere for just a glimpse of one of her two friends that was there as well, spotting jemma after a few seconds.

she was jogging across the field along with two other girls; one dark blonde with curly hair and the another with darker hair, but hers was straight.

instantly she knew who they were, having seen them in the halls several times before. the thing was; they were friends with lynn, the only ones she had as far as zaria had seen. make it 3 if you add in zia as well.

there was no time for her to warm up before they were all signaled to gather around coach watson who started introducing herself, then kept on going on about what to expect from this season and if someone was going to half-ass it they could leave.

"everyone find two partners and start doing circle passings" coach watson told the group after 10 minutes of nonsense. zaria instantly looked over to jemma, but she was already talking to some people she had never seen before.

one thing about jemma is that she is the biggest chatterbox you'll ever meet. she could talk to anyone at any time which was really great fot her, but not that much for zaria who really just preferred socializing with the same 4 people.

her eyes moved over to zia, but she was standing beside lynn so that was definitely not happening.

"you're zaria, right?" someone asked, pulling her out of her thoughts. she soon saw it was the straight haired girl jemma was talking to earlier. it did surprise her that someone knew who she was when she wasn't with her friends or boyfriend.

"yeah" she chucked, a hint of nervousness in her voice. "you wanna join us?" the shorter one offered, smiling as she did so.

"i'm rebecca, that's juliana" the curly haired said, passing the ball to zaria. if it was normalized, zaria would say she knew, but obviously she didn't want her potential new teammates to think she was a creep. instead she just nodded and gave them both a smile.

as they passed the ball they took turns asking questions, most of them being directed to zaria as the two others didnt know her and even tho they were kind, she was very greatful when coach watson came and told them 'less talking, more playing' because what do you reply when someone says: "were you on the team last year? i don't belive i saw you here"

"oh no, i thought i made it, but turns out they mistaked me for my sister and put the wrong name on the letter"

because that was definitely not it.

the next person she talked to after that was coach watson again. it wasn't that she didnt want to speak to people, but she really wanted to make the team and in order to do that, she had to focus.

"are you two twins?" she asked. her gaze was set on zia who easily dribbled past 2 other players, making it fairly obvious who she was reffering to.

this was probably the most asked question they got and every time they had to disappoint the person asking when giving the answer no, even tho they were in one way.

irish twins. it wasn't as great as it sounded. cause even tho they were born the same year, zia was always going to be the youngest and their parents were not afraid to show who was their favorite.

hint: it wasnt zaria.

before tryouts were even done, she had already accepted that she was not making the team so the walk back to the locker room was really just the walk of shame.

"didn't do so bad today laney" lynn smacked the back of the black haired girl's head with a grin when she passed. if zaria had the energy to do it, she would've wiped it away with her shoe. instead a "shut your mouth" had to do the job.

the reddressed girl turned around, the same grin still on her face, zaria only sending a glare back.

lynn found everything between them more like joke. she never really disliked zaria, she just enjoyed to bothering her. especially since she always got a reaction out of her.

the headache the laney girl thought she escaped came back the second she stepped into the locker room. the only thing she wanted to do was go home, go to bed and preferably not wake up again.

instead she was forced to stand and listen to the other girls talking about whatever.

it wasn't eavesdropping if they spoke so loud she could hear it from outside the door. still there was one voice drowning out all the other ones. lynn's. the only thing she could do was close her eyes and scream internally.

how she hated that raspy voice.
