Lucy checked her watch, her foot tapping in a steady rhythm. She was more than a little annoyed. Tonight's date had been her idea; she'd made the reservation, picked out her outfit, and even given Tim a heads-up twice about what time they needed to leave.

"Tim, come on!" she called, barely keeping her irritation in check. "Our reservation was fifteen minutes ago!"

In typical Tim fashion, he replied, calm as ever, "It's just dinner, Lucy."

Lucy rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and leaning against the doorframe. She was about to shout back when Tim finally appeared, still adjusting his cufflinks, completely unfazed. "Ready?" he asked, like they weren't already late.

"Barely!" She groaned, grabbing his arm and practically dragging him out the door. "I told you tonight was important."

Tim looked down at her, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Alright, Chen. Next time, I'll be on your schedule."

They got to the restaurant a little late, but luckily, their table was still waiting. As they sat down, Lucy tried to shake off the annoyance from earlier, but it lingered. She'd gone to all this effort, and he'd barely even rushed.

As if sensing her mood, Tim put down his menu and looked across the table, his face softened in a way she rarely saw. "Hey," he said, his voice quiet but steady. "I know you planned all of this... and I didn't mean to mess it up by being late."

Lucy glanced up, caught off guard by his tone. She raised an eyebrow. "So you admit you messed it up?"

A small smile tugged at his lips. "Fine, I admit it. But," he said, leaning forward slightly, "I've got a way to make it up to you."

Curious, she tilted her head. "Oh yeah? What's that?"

Tim reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a small, folded piece of paper. He slid it across the table, watching her with an almost shy expression.

Frowning, she picked it up and unfolded it. Inside was a short, handwritten note: 10 Things I Love About Lucy Chen. Her eyes widened as she read the first few lines:

The way you always find a way to make work more fun.How you can't go a day without coffee... or three. That laugh you do when you think something's ridiculous but still kind of funny.

Each line was something specific, things that he noticed, things she hadn't thought he'd even paid attention to. She felt a warmth spreading through her chest as she read on, realizing how much time he must have put into this list.

When she looked back up, she saw him watching her, an affectionate glint in his eyes. "I know I don't say it often," he said, his voice a little quieter now, "but I notice all these little things about you, Lucy. And I love them."

She blinked, trying to shake the slight blush that crept onto her cheeks. "Tim... this is... so not you." She laughed, holding the note to her chest. "But it's perfect."

He shrugged, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "I figured I'd try something new. Besides," he added, his voice low, "it was the best way I could think of to make sure you forgive me for running late."

Lucy laughed, shaking her head as she folded the paper carefully and tucked it into her bag. "Forgiven. But I might need more lists like this in the future."

They shared a smile, the warmth lingering between them for the rest of the night. The earlier frustration had melted away, replaced by a quiet contentment. It wasn't the perfect evening she'd planned, but Tim's simple gesture made it more meaningful than she'd ever expected.

As they left the restaurant hand-in-hand, Lucy knew she'd remember this night – not for the reservations or the timing, but for the moment Tim showed her exactly how much she meant to him.
