A Chenford Wedding

The warm morning sun shined through the curtains casting golden rays of light all throughout the bedroom. The air around them was still promising the day's commitment and significance. Lucy stirred first, feeling the weight of the day filling her body with excitement. She turned her head to look at him, peacefully sleeping. A flutter in her chest reminds her - today is the day. Tim moves beside her switching her focus. His hand reaches for her's under the sheets and their fingers interlock. As his eyes flicker open, and a warm smile appears across his face as he looks into Lucy's eyes. No words needed. Just them. Just this moment. The calm morning with each other was perfect to let the last fews hours before they said forever sink in. Lucy squeezes his hand, "Are you ready?" she whispered, breaking the silence.

"With you? Always," Tim says softly but surely. Lucy smiled her heart filled with love and gratitude. How does this man know her so well? She rested her head back onto her pillow trying to savour the last hours of calmness before the excitement begins. In a couple of hours there would be flowers, friends, family and vows but for now it was just them, together. "I feel like we should be freaking out," Lucy says laughing "Isn't that what people do,"

Tim blinked, raising his eyebrows, pretending to be confused. "Wait... we're not freaking out? I'm in full panic mode right now,".

Lucy laughed, rolling her eyes at him "I'm being serious,".

"Alright then, what if the cake doesn't come on time? What if we put the wrong date on the invitation? What if you trip down the aisle? What if-" Lucy cuts him off by slamming a pillow into his stomach. 

"Okay, okay!" He said laughing at her. "No freaking out. We got this,".

"How are you so sure" She asks.

Tim slides a thumb over her cheek and looks directly into his eyes. "Because it's you. I'm marrying you. What's there to freak out about?" Lucy face brightens with each word until a large smile is from ear to ear. She reached for his hand to squeeze. She nods her head and says "Guess that's all I need".

6 HOURS LATER

The sky was bright, the air was comfortable and all was going well for Tim and Lucy's wedding. Their venue was outside at this beautiful garden with blooming flowers. Guests were slowly moving towards their seats and getting settled before the ceremony. Lucy was behind the doors on the opposite end of the aisle, her heart beating faster than ever. Tim and Lucy hadn't seen each other since they left their house this morning. Tamara, the maid of honour grabbed her hand. Lucy gave an appreciative smile. "You ready for this?" Tamara questioned, her eyes lit up with excitement. "I think so, all there is left to do is not trip on the aisle," she said laughing. 

"You'll be fine. No. You'll be perfect, I promise... and if you do fall, Grey will be right by your side ready to catch you if you need," Tamara said supportively.

"Thanks" Lucy said. A few months ago, Lucy had asked Sergeant Wade Grey who was a father figure for her to walk her down the aisle, and he agreed happily.

On the other side of the doors, Tim walks up to the front into position after greeting everyone. He looks over the small crowd. His eyes stop on the empty seat in the front row with a photo frame and a white rose on it. Jackson's seat. A beautiful picture of Jackson smiles back at Tim and he can't help but feel devastated for Lucy. He can't imagine what it would be like without his best friend Angela at his wedding. But before he can think for any longer the music begins. Angela and Nyla pat Lucy on the shoulder and wish their good luck before heading down the aisle first. Tim greets each with a bright smile and rolls his eyes as Angela pats him on the back and says, "looking good Bradford," and brings her hand just in front of his face and waves a tissue near him "I think you may be needing this,".
