Zhan was cracking up at a joke from one of Lan's family friends when Yibo suddenly popped up behind him. Zhan spun around and had to tilt his head back to meet Yibo's stern gaze.
"Care to dance?" Yibo asked.
"Y-yeah, sure..." Zhan replied, extending his hand with a grin. Without saying anything else, Yibo wrapped his arm around Zhan and led him to the dance floor, completely unfazed by the disapproving looks from his friends who were watching them.
They shared a quiet dance, but Zhan didn't mind one bit., he enjoyed the sensation of being held in Yibo's strong arms and looking up into his handsome face. There was something very familiar about being held in his arms easily.
Yibo gazed down at Zhan, who had this dreamy expression on his face. (A/N: In this story, Lan Wangji and Wang Yibo is 3 inches taller than Wuxian and Xiao Zhan) Yibo was totally fine with them sway in silence, enjoying the moment of having Zhan in his arms and getting lost in those beautiful eyes. When the music stopped, they stayed right there on the dance floor, locked in a gaze. Zhan didn't want to wake up from this dream. Finally, Yibo broke the silence.
"One more dance, Zhan," Yibo softly suggested as the music started up again. Zhan willingly stepped into Yibo's arms again, and Yibo brushed his lips against Zhan's head, whispering softly. "You have fiery hair, My Sweetheart. Do your kisses have fire too?"
Oddly enough, it echoes what Lan Wangji told him when they danced back in 1948. But Zhan didn't want to think that he was in another man's arms but Yibo's. And it was Yibo speaking, and no one else. Zhan just wanted to lose himself in a dreamy moment, imagining being swept off his feet by this guy, feeling weightless in his embrace... silently.
Not wanting to wake up from the dream, Zhan rested his head on Yibo's shoulder and was about to close his eyes when he caught Ziyi, being dragged by Zhoucheng down the hallway toward Ziyi's guest room.
Zhan stumbled a bit. He was caught off guard by Zhoucheng's sudden action. Some of the guests, especially the family members, knew that Yibo was set to be with his cousin. If Zhoucheng lost his cool and someone caught sight of it, Yibo would be in for some serious embarrassment, and so would his parents.
Zhan let go slightly and looked up at Yibo again.
"I-if you'll excuse me. I-I suddenly got a headache. I need to grab some medicine from my room..." Yibo looked a bit concerned for a second but then replied, "Of course." He guided Zhan out of the hall, but before Yibo could say anything else, Zhan dashed out of the hall.
