"You've been here for a month and all you do is shut yourself in your room!" Shen Xiaohai snarled at Lan Xie Yun as he opened the room saw Lan Xie Yun staring out the window. "I don't even know why you suddenly came back and I'm not going to ask., the important thing is that you're here."

Lan Xie Yun stayed silent, leaning his arms on the edge of the big window. He gazed out at the endless forest that wrapped around their house, with the ocean visible in the distance.

"Ah Yan said you didn't show up to meet her as you promised." Although there's a hint of accusation in his voice, the old man's tone lightened just a bit.

Lan Xie Yun replied in a flat tone, not even glancing at the old man, "I didn't promise her. You're the one who told her I'd be there. You didn't even bother to ask if I was up for it."

"Lan Xie Yun, you really should be nicer to Ah Yan. Honestly, when it comes to looks, she's way ahead of those girls you see in Beijing."

"I am not attracted to her, Papa." Lan Xie Yun said firmly, looking straight at his father. "Just don't push me to see her as anything beyond a friend."

The old man's face darkened. "I've made an agreement with her, Lan Xie Yun. Her parents and I have agreed to have your wedding next month, so make sure you're prepared!"

"I'm sorry, Papa. but I can't follow your wishes. That girl isn't the one I envision giving my name to. Lan Xie Yun's reply was solid and unwavering, which only fueled Shen Xiaohai's anger even more.

"Don't embarrass me, Lan Xie Yun!" the old man yelled, his patience wearing thin, he's been explaining to Lan Xie Yun what he wanted to happen since earlier but the young guy just wouldn't budge. "You need to marry Ah Yan. And if you don't follow my wishes then..."

"I don't understand you, Papa," Lan Xie Yun interrupted the old man. "Why are you forcing me to marry Ah Yan?"

Instead of answering right away, Shen Xiaohai's face shifted from anger to a fleeting expression of confusion.

"Did you ra__ped Ah Yan?" Lan Xie Yun asked, his voice laced with accusation and surety. He looked deeply disappointed, while the old man avoided his gaze.

"What are you talking about?!" the old man grumbles, attempting to cover up the guilt that's written all over his face.

"Is it the same as what you did to my mother?" Lan Xie Yun questioned, his demeanor shifting to a more intense glare. "Mama was forced to marry you because you ra_ped her, didn't you?" He accused, his teeth chattering in anger.

"H-how" The old man's eyes widened. The beads of sweat started to form on his forehead.

"You really think I'm clueless about the truth?" Lan Xie Yun scoffed.

"Although Mama doesn't show you because she's scared, you'll hurt her physically, she really despises and loathes you. She told me the whole truth about how you stole her away from her true love... your own brother, Lan Wang Jun.
