In the hallway, Quiren confronted his wife. "Does it bother you that your son chose Ziyuan's son as his future spouse?"

"Wary is the right word, Quiren," replied Carmen. "Zhan's parents don't know what's going on and we cannot predict how they will react. Also, I struggle to understand your son amidst the speed of events." She let out a sigh and shook her head.

Quiren faced his wife and raised her face. "Love doesn't take a long time, darling. I fell in love with you when you first came to the farm. That feeling hasn't changed... I love you more in every passing day... Happy anniversary, sweetheart." He planted a soft kiss on her lips.

"Happy anniversary, too, Love. And thank you so much for loving me," she stated, her heart overflowing with love. "You mentioned love, do you believe those two have feelings for each other?"

Quiren smiled knowingly, "I bet my life on it".

Zhan awoke the next day in the afternoon, realizing that the party had ended at dawn. It seemed he had met all the members of the Lan family along with their close friends.

After getting ready, he was about to leave when he caught a glimpse of the phone on the table. Thought of calling the parents to let them know what happened last night.

"Well, it's about time." Fengmian on the other line in a tone that slightly startled Zhan.

"I was really going to call you, you simply beat me to it. Your Aunt Linran just called. She was so angry. Lan Quiren has called off Yibo and Ziyi's engagement. Quiren mentioned that his son is now engaged to Ziyi's cousin and that the engagement has been officially announced. What does it mean, Zhan?"

"Dad," Zhan began, clearing his throat at the same time. "Zhoucheng is here. He followed Ziyi and me. You know they love each other and..."

He told his Dad everything that happened, as he didn't want to lie. Zhan was expecting him to understand, if not to take delight in the fact that one of the Lan family is now his fiancé, who after all is not a stranger to his parents.

"No!" exclaimed Fengmian from the other line.

Zhan gasped. Startled by the vehemence in his father's tone. Fengmian had never spoken to him in such a manner. "Your engagement holds no significance for me, Zhan. And I couldn't care less if it was announced to the entire world," Fengmian declared, his voice quaking with fury. "I want you to pack your bags, Sean Zhan, and take the earliest flight back home immediately!"

"But, Dad-"

"That bastard can't use you. I can't allow this..."

"M-maybe I have missed telling you something, Dad," he said. He had to lie. "I... I won't be conned into this engagement if... if I don't h-have feelings for Yibo." Then he immediately checked himself if it really was a lie. To his shock, he uncovered his true emotions and declared, "I love him, Dad."

"No, Zhan! No."

Zhan couldn't imagine his father's face. He didn't remember his dad being so angry with anyone. His father was the most diplomatic man he had ever met. Anger was his father's last resort to deal with things.

"That bastard can't take you away from me. I will not allow my wife and son to be involved in that family! The hell I care if they own the world but not my son!"

"Dad!"

"And I don't believe for one moment that you love that man, Zhan," Fengmian continued. his chest heaving with indignation.

Ziyuan quietly watched her husband. Don't know what to say and think. Like her child, she had never seen her husband this angry, and it puzzled her so much.

"He is a very good-looking man," Fengmian continued. "And of course, very

rich. That must have drawn you to him, much like it does for others. But you don't definitely love him!"

"But-"

"Not another word, Sean Zhan," Fengmian warned. "Get out of that place and fly back home right away. It is an order."

Before Zhan could provide a reply, his father disconnected the call. With a sense of sadness, Zhan found himself sitting on the edge of the bed, his mind clouded with confusion over his father's intense anger.

"Hello Zhan. I missed the chance to congratulate you last night..."
