When I finally got home and opened the door, there stood Nanami, looking as stoic as ever.

“Heeeyyy!” I said, running toward him in exaggerated slow motion, like a scene from a dramatic movie.

He just sighed, shaking his head. “Let’s get to the explaining, shall we?”

I stopped short, pouting. “First, tell me—what did you talk about with Aizawa-sensei?”

“Not much,” he replied, adjusting his glasses. “Just some details about how destructive your quirk could be and why it’s best if villains don’t find out.”

“Ohh! I see,” I nodded, curious. “And how did you end up here anyway?”

“It’s… complicated,” he said, his tone matter-of-fact. “Apparently, this body’s former owner couldn’t handle my cursed energy, and well, my soul sort of… took over.”

I blinked. “So you have a job here now?”

“Yes, I’m working in a fairly large company. Now, about you.” He turned his attention to me, raising an eyebrow.

I filled him in on everything that had happened so far, all the chaos at U.A., my training, and the festival.

“Why U.A.?” he asked, crossing his arms.

“I wanted a school life that was exciting, something… unique. And U.A. seemed like just the place.” I smiled, remembering the rush of everything so far.

“Uh-huh. I see.” He gave me one of his trademark disapproving looks.

“So… now that I’m a teen, will you adopt me?” I asked, batting my eyelashes.

Nanami looked visibly disgusted. “Absolutely not.”

I pouted, putting on my best puppy-dog eyes. When that failed to crack his poker face, I turned and dramatically shuffled away.

“Oh, and by the way,” he added, “I’m leaving for America tomorrow. It’s a business trip.”

“America?” I gasped. “A whole business trip?”

He nodded. “Yeah.”

I sighed, disappointed. “Well, nothing I can do about that, I guess.” I paused, tilting my head. “By the way… you have cursed energy too, right?”

“Yes, but I won’t be using it here.” He adjusted his glasses again, keeping his expression serious.

“Nanami,” I began with another dramatic pout, “you know I’ve been working part-time. I’ve got intense training at school, and it’s exhausting… and it’s all for… money.” I made the best puppy eyes I could muster.

He sighed, exasperated. “Fine, I’ll send you some money every month.”

“Yesss!” I cheered, grinning ear to ear. “Now… let’s go celebrate at a restaurant!”

Nanami just shook his head again, but I caught a faint hint of a smile.

The next day at school.
I saw Bakugo making a dog-like face with the medal in his mouth. And Todoroki was a little angry. I saw him glare at me.

Everyone hastily made their way to their seats the moment Aizawa stepped into the classroom.

"Morning," he grumbled.

"Good morning!" replied the class.

"Good to see your bandages off, Aizawa-sensei," Asui pointed out.

"The old lady's treatment was excessive," said Aizawa, rubbing his bottom eyelid. "But never mind that. Today we've got Hero Informatics class. And a special one at that. But before that. There is one thing I want to tell you guys."
