YOUR POV:

"So, sweetie, how are you and Gerard?" My mother asks me.

"We're doing good," I admit. "We've had our fights just like any other couple."

I wish I could say those fights were every once in a while and not almost every day.

A lot has changed since we graduated in 1999.

After college, Gerard and I went our separate ways. Phone calls were very little to none since our only communication was our home phones. But eventually, Gerard convinced me to come up to New Jersey to meet his family since I had never met them before.

I stayed with Gerard and his family since he was living at home. When I protested, he told me that I didn't have a choice since New Jersey was dangerous. He practically never let me out of his sight the entire week I was there. His parents really liked me and even encouraged me to come visit whenever, and his younger brother, Mikey, was adorable even though he was mostly quiet and reserved around me.

I returned home and for a few months and we continued the long distance, until I was able to convince him to take time off work to come a visit me. He came and we stayed at a nice hotel in the area. Gerard was confused as to why I chose a hotel instead of my house, but I told him it was because my parents were nosey people.

Gerard returned home and before I knew it, the tragedy of 9/11 occurred. I remember Gerard calling me that night in tears, telling me that he needed me. So, I quickly grabbed my essentials and headed back to New Jersey.

After that, my life completely changed.

Gerard and his brother formed a band called My Chemical Romance, along with some guy named Ray who he had met in college. After that, Gerard grabbed some guy named Matt who he met at a bar, and soon after he adopted Frank from Pencey Prep.

Gerard begged me to stay with him, not wanting to part ways with me ever again. I was unsure, I mean, he still lived at home after all. But after we chatted with his parents, they quickly agreed that I could stay with them in the basement, which happened to be Gerard's bedroom.

A year later and the band released their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. It was a big success for them since they quickly went on tour and even tagged along with a few bigger names.

When they returned they started working on their next album which was fittingly called, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. Actually, they were all currently in California working on the album in a legit studio as opposed to some random spot in someone's house.

I wasn't with them as I was currently home visiting my family. Once I got done, I would head back to New Jersey and wait for Gerard and them to return.

"I still don't approve of him," my father says. "He had a perfectly good job at Cartoon Network, why would he throw it all away for some flimsy career that could leave him homeless any day now?"

"It's like I've told you before, dad." I huff, "Gerard wanted to make a difference in the world. Besides, I don't care what kinda job he has. I will always love him."

"Y/N, it's not a matter of love...it's matter of money." My father explains, "he doesn't have a stable job and he's 27 years old, and still lives at home with his family. Not only that, you're living with him too...isn't that weird?"

I couldn't lie.

"Yeah, it is. But his family leaves me alone, besides if it's Mikey," I shrug.

My father sighs, "Y/N, I just want you to live a stable life. You don't even have a job—."
