A/N: It’s a filler. Actually didn't felt like writing the Hosu thing so I just wrote this.
Akira’s POV:
After Hawks’s suggestion, we walked back through the dim alleyways toward his agency. The anticipation was building up inside me, and I was eager to see what kind of training Hawks had planned. This wasn’t just any normal training session; with him, everything felt like a unique challenge.
“So, what exactly do you want to see?” I asked, playfully flexing my fingers in preparation.
“Surprise me,” Hawks replied with a smirk, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. “Let’s see what kind of moves you’ve got.”
We entered an open training area behind the agency. It was a massive space with every kind of obstacle, training dummies, and even a high-ceilinged area for aerial maneuvers. Hawks took a step back, crossing his arms as he watched me closely, clearly interested in my quirks.
I took a deep breath and activated “Blue,” my hand forming a slight gravitational pull that brought objects toward me. Small training objects scattered around started inching closer, and Hawks’s grin grew wider.
“Nice control!” he complimented, “Now, try that ‘Red’ of yours!”
With a determined look, I switched to Red, sending out a repulsive force that pushed everything back with intense power, scattering dummies across the room. Hawks gave an impressed whistle.
“Well, you weren’t kidding about the firepower,” he said, nodding in approval. “But let’s see how you handle a real target.”
He suddenly launched himself toward me at an incredible speed, his wings propelling him forward in a blur. I quickly activated Infinity, letting the space between us slow him down as he tried to reach me. He hovered there, unable to close the distance, but his smile only widened.
“Impressive! You’re making me work here!” he laughed, hovering in the air just beyond my reach.
Taking advantage of his pause, I prepared to unleash Hollow Purple, combining both Blue and Red into a devastating attack. But Hawks raised a hand, signaling me to stop.
“Save that one for tomorrow in Hosu,” he said, landing back on the ground. “Let’s not destroy my agency just yet!”
I let out a breath, deactivating my quirk as he came up to me, a look of pride on his face.
“You’ve got potential, Gojo. And a lot of it. I’m excited to see how you’ll handle Hosu,” he said, giving me a quick pat on the shoulder.
“Thanks, Hawks,” I replied, genuinely touched. "I won’t let you down."
“Alright,” he said with a grin. “Let’s get some rest before we dive into the real action tomorrow. Hosu’s going to need us at our best.”
As we left the training room, a thrill ran through me. Tomorrow wasn’t just going to be another patrol; it felt like the start of something much bigger.
As we were about to leave, Hawks paused and turned to me, a mischievous glint in his eye. “One more thing, Gojo,” he said. “You’ve shown me some of your quirk’s abilities, but how about your hand-to-hand combat skills? Think you can keep up with me?”
I smirked, rolling my shoulders to loosen up. “You’re on, Hawks. Let’s see if you can keep up with my moves.”
He chuckled, already bouncing lightly on his toes. “Don’t worry, I’ll go easy on you… maybe.”
We faced each other in the open training area, the room’s air thick with anticipation. Without wasting a second, Hawks launched himself at me, his speed blurring as he closed the distance. I barely had time to react before he was right in front of me, throwing a quick jab aimed at my shoulder.
I twisted my body, stepping to the side and letting his fist slide past, using his momentum against him to throw him slightly off balance. He recovered instantly, spinning around with a low kick that I jumped over, landing gracefully.
“Not bad!” he grinned, impressed. “But I’m just getting started.”
He dashed forward again, this time with even greater speed, weaving in a series of punches aimed at my midsection. I dodged each strike with precise, calculated movements, my focus sharp as I tracked his movements.
My techniques were all about precision and timing, while his style relied on his insane speed and agility. Despite his quick attacks, I could read his patterns and anticipate his next moves.
Hawks tried to catch me off guard with a surprise uppercut, but I caught his wrist, twisting it slightly to immobilize him. He responded by pulling his arm back, using the force to flip me over, but I landed on my feet and immediately went on the offensive.
With quick, fluid movements, I countered his strikes with smooth blocks and a series of calculated kicks aimed at his legs to destabilize him. For a moment, I could tell he was struggling to keep up with the precision of my moves, but he didn’t back down. Instead, he sped up, his wings giving him a burst of speed to evade my attacks just in time.
“Gotta admit, your technique is impressive,” he said, breathing slightly heavier than before. “But speed’s my specialty.”
He took off, wings propelling him around me in a blur. It was almost dizzying, but I kept my stance grounded, following his movements with calm focus.
As he closed in, I anticipated his approach and spun, throwing a roundhouse kick aimed at his side. He barely managed to dodge, but the wind from my kick brushed him, forcing him to shift back. Hawks grinned, clearly enjoying the challenge.
“Alright, Gojo, you’re better than I thought. Let’s turn it up a notch!”
With that, he attacked with a flurry of strikes, his speed nearly overwhelming. I blocked, dodged, and countered, my body moving fluidly as we exchanged blows in a rhythm of precise technique versus sheer speed. Each time he landed a hit, I managed to counter, using his momentum to control the flow of the fight.
We clashed for what felt like ages, neither of us giving an inch. Finally, we both stepped back, Hawks breathing heavily, while I didn't even break a sweat and grinned at each other.
“Not bad, Hawks,” I said, catching . “But you’re going to have to be quicker than that if you want to take me down.”
He laughed, leaning on his knees. “I’ll keep that in mind, kid. You’re one tough opponent.”
After a moment’s silence, I turned to Hawks, curiosity finally getting the better of me.
"Why did you send me the internship request?" I asked, tilting my head. "You could have chosen anyone. So…why me?"
I studied his face, waiting for a response. Hawks seemed deep in thought, his gaze drifting off to the side. His usual confident smirk was gone, replaced by a furrowed brow and pursed lips. He tapped his chin, then scratched the back of his head, clearly searching for an answer.
Finally, he sighed and shrugged, giving me a sheepish grin. “Honestly? I… don’t know.”
I raised an eyebrow, trying to hold back a laugh. “You don’t know?”
He chuckled, running a hand through his hair, looking a bit embarrassed. “Yeah, that’s about it. I just… felt like it, I guess? You seemed interesting, and… well, I went with my gut.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at his honesty. “Seriously? You picked me for an internship because you felt like it?”
Hawks shrugged again, his grin returning. “Hey, sometimes the best decisions come from instinct.”
I smirked, crossing my arms. “Well, guess I’ll just have to make sure you don’t regret it.”
His grin widened, “Well, I’d say that’s enough for today,” he said, finally straightening up. “We’ve got Hosu tomorrow, and something tells me we’ll need all the energy we can get.”
“Agreed,” I replied, giving him a friendly tap on the shoulder. “I’ll be ready.”
And with that, we left the training area, each of us silently acknowledging the other’s strength. Tomorrow would bring new challenges, but I felt more prepared than ever.
