"What?" I whispered in confusion.
"You took one of mine Y/N." My sister snarked, the need for more souls taking over her mind.

I looked at her dumbfounded. Wasn't she proud of me? I finally did something good with my powers. "She wasn't yours yet Rio!" I argued back. "You can't have everyone. Sometimes, it's not their time to go."

"You don't get to make that decision for them!" She yelled, a dark smoke swirling around her as her frustration grew.

"Yes I do!" I shouted in anger, a burst of white coming from me. Rio flew back, hitting the wall behind her. "I'm tired of being told I can't help or I can't use my powers for good. I'm LIFE, I am here to keep the living going. I am here to keep them alive. I need to do my job, instead of having you hold me back from my destiny."
Rio looked up to me, her mouth agape. She tried to respond but no words made it to the surface. "I let you have Sharon." I sighed, thinking back to the moment I had shared with her. "I let you have her because I knew it would bring her peace. An eternity with her husband, a chance to break free from all the memories that haunt her. But Alice..." I looked to the woman passed out on the floor, then to the door everyone had just walked out. "Alice has just found herself. She just put the pieces of her past together. It isn't her time to go Rio. Not yet." I whispered the last part, my mind going back to the night I had failed. "I know you don't trust me with my powers anymore, but I can do it. You just have to give me a chance to prove myself again."

Her hand met my face, wiping away a tear I hadn't even noticed. "You've grown up." She said, pulling me into her arms. "You're finally ready."

I sat by Alice, waiting for her to wake up. It had only been a few minutes since we got here, but I was still scared. Maybe I didn't actually do it, maybe she is Rio's for the taking. Maybe I failed, yet again.
"Mm." Alice groaned, sitting up slightly.

"Alice?" I whispered, placing my hand gently against her back. "How are you feeling?"
"Dead." She mumbled, her eyes shooting open after the words left her mouth. "Am I dead?" She asked, looking over to me.

"No." I smiled, shaking my head. "You are very much alive."
"Where are we?" She asked, looking around at the unfamiliar setting.

"I don't know where you live, so I brought you to my home." I stood up and made my way to the end of my bed. "I have to get back to the road now, but please feel free to stay here and make yourself at home."

"Good luck." Alice said as I walked out the door. "Keep them safe."
"I'll try." I whispered back

"What did I miss?" I asked, landing on the ground in front of teen. I looked around, Jen and Lilia no where to be found. "Where's Lilia?" I asked, my eyes shooting to teen as he inhaled sharply. "What did you do?" I growled, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.

"I didn't mean to." He cried, throwing his hands up in surrender. "I'm so sorry Y/N!"
"Where is she?" I asked, dropping him to the ground.
"I think she's dead." He responded, his eyes trained on the floor.
