A few minutes after Delilah and Shannon had fallen asleep, Johnny and I quietly left the sitting room and headed to the kitchen.
We walk down his long hallway in silence, but when in the kitchen and Johnny's closed the door, he starts talking. "Something is happening to those girls. I've seen multiple bruises on Shannon, and now with Delilah's face-I feel I'm losing my mind here, Lad. I mean you've noticed the marks too, right?"
I nod my head, crossing my arms over my chest. "Yeah, I've noticed them too."
"And what did she say when you asked?"
"That she fell over her brother's lego tower."
"Funny." Johnny scoffed, "So did Shannon."
"Well, either they're telling the truth-or they are lying." I shrug, "Did you ask Joey about it?"
He nods, throwing the bowls that Delilah and Shannon ate cereal out of, into the sink. "He was all like if that's what she said happened, that's what happened. But it's bullshit, so I asked if it was one of those pricks from BCS that were still hurting her."
"Wait." I pause, "You know about that?"
I remember everything that Katie told me about how Shannon and Delilah were both victims of bullying, For some reason it slipped my mind up until now.
"The first day we met-after I knocked her over with my ball, I went to Dee for information on Shannon. She didn't give me much but Gibsie ended up getting me her file, and fuck me, Feely. There were fourteen pages of A4 accidents. I knew from the first page that she was the victim of bullying. I mean you should've of seen it, Assault, Vomiting, Bloody noses-" He cuts himself off with a ragged breath, "It was horrible, and then when I took her to Biddies, there was a group of them there, and she was literally shaking beside me the whole time, I knew that it was those girls who had done all those things to her, I mean the blond one especially, looked real smug until I started fighting her fella."
Jesus Christ, Poor Shannon.
"Anyways, I still think it's people from BCS hurting her, I mean it has to be, right?" Johnny carried on, "I think it's why Shannon transferred to Tommen..But If it was happening to her It must be happening to Delilah, Don't you think?"
"Yeah, you're right, Johnny. Katie told me a few things because Delilah is friends with her sister- and a while back, I was driving home and Delilah got into my car holding her shirt closed with both of her hands. She didn't tell me much but I connected the dots, and I saw two boys running after her in my rear view mirror."
