"Feely. You staring at your phone intensely is not going to make Delilah magically text you."
I lift my head and glare at Hughie, who is sitting across from me at the lunch table. "She told me she would text me last night, but she didn't. It's been nothing but silence all day, and Shannon clearly isn't here. So sue me for being worried." I retorted, looking back down at the screen of my unanswered texts.
"We shouldn't have let them leave last night." Johnny mumbled, running a hand through his hair. "Fucks sake."
"You two both have to calm down, Shannon's probably not feeling well and Delilah probably left her phone at home." Hughie pointed out, trying to console Johnny and I, but it really didn't ease my nerves.
Delilah has been bullied at BCS, and from what Johnny told me about her sister's file, I wouldn't be surprised If it was still happening, and the thought that she could still be going through that. I'm pissed off with all the people doing it, but mostly I'm worried about her.
How much bullying can one person take before they break?
Every minute that goes by and she still hasn't texted me back is seriously stressing me out, and I'm so close to leaving and driving over to BCS to go find her.
"I can't sit here anymore. I have to go make sure she's alright." I decided, and stood up, "I'm losing my mind, here."
Hughie shoots up and walks around the table, putting a hand on my shoulder. "You can't leave, we have an accounting exam next period, just keep ya head and I'll go find Katie, alright?"
I clenched my jaw, but reluctantly sat back down. Hughie slapped me on the back before leaving the lunch hall to go find his girlfriend.
"You really think something's wrong with Delilah?" Johnny asked, making me look over at him. I shrugged, "I really fucking hope not, I honest to god hope that I'm just thinking the worst."
Hughie comes back to the table with Katie behind him a few minutes later, and the two sit down beside one another.
"I text Catherine and she saw Delilah ten minutes ago, so she confirms that she is alright." Katie explained, sliding her phone over to me, I grab it and read the messages before nodding slowly.
"Right." I let out a breath, trying to convince myself that Delilah is alright and I really just need to stop worrying. "I'm probably just overthinking it, what could possibly go wrong in ten minutes?"
"Exactly, lad." Hughie agreed, before looking around the table, "Where the hell is Gibs?"
Johnny barked out a laugh, before pointing to the table where Claire and Lizzie are always at. "He's with your sister."
I looked over at the table and started laughing when I noticed Claire in Gibsie's lap. Hughie groaned at the sight, "Fucking hell." He said, hitting his head with the palm of his hand. "Every day."
